Fijiana head coach Saiasi Fuli has maintained his core players who have played a vital role in the team during the HSBC World Rugby Womens Sevens Series and Commonwealth Games.

Speedster Aloesi Nakoci has earned her spot back into the squad after missing out on the Commonwealth Games which finished earlier this month.

Captain Rusila Nagasau and winger Lavenia Tinai are the only two players who played at the Rugby World Cup four years ago.

Vani Buleki, Verenaisi Bari and Laisani Moceisawana will hope to showcase a much-gutted performance after making their debut for the national team this year.

Rusila Nagasau will captain the Fijiana side to next month’s 7s Rugby World Cup in South Africa. This comes as Fijiana 7s head coach Saiasi Fuli released the names of his Rugby World Cup squad this afternoon. The 13 players announced were selected based on form and their commitment to training. .....

From today, and throughout the entire month, Oceania Rugby will celebrate the achievements of Women in Rugby to inspire the next generation - both on and off the field - to pick up a Rugby ball and enjoy everything that the game has to offer.

Themed, 'Women in Rugby…Respect', the month will showcase, celebrate and acknowledge girls and women across the game, all of whom deserve respect for their courage and contributions as elite rugby players, community participants including young girls, coaches, officials, volunteers, sport administrators and leaders.

With a 200 percent global increase of registered female rugby players over the last six years, the exponential growth of the sport among women and girls is topical.

Throughout September, Oceania Rugby will host four regional webinars that will address different Women in Rugby, the webinars are aimed at showcasing the achievements and talent of women in the game and encouraging more women to be involved in the game in a range of ways.

Encouraging interested persons to register for the upcoming Women in Rugby sessions ranging from sports medicine, coaching and strength and conditioning.

In the Pool B matches, Fiji beat Japan 24-19 while Great Britain beat Canada 24-0.

In Pool C, USA beat Kenya in a close 19-14 encounter, and South Africa beat Ireland 33-14.

Fiji's second Pool play will be against Canada, tonight at 8pm.

The Kaiviti Silktails have put any religious concerns behind them as they prepare to play the Windsor Wolves in round four of the Ron Massey Cup after the game was brought forward to Good Friday.

Originally the match was set down for Easter Saturday afternoon at the Windsor Sports Complex.

But with that ground still heavily water-logged from the recent floods, the game has shifted to Good Friday at Hammondville Oval in Moorebank.
