Magic at the Culter Christmas Lights Switch on this year! Sunday 24th November. Come early so you can enjoy the whole event with the finale being the lights getting switched on!! Then it will definitely be Christmas!

As a magician I always love going to watch other magic shows. The Edinburgh Fringe has around 80 on offer this year. Had a great time down at the Fringe. Saw 8 magic shows and one comedy show by accident. Daddy Autism was very funny though so worth going to see. Highlights from the magic shows were definitely Colin Cloud- amazing as usual(and probably his last Fringe show for some time considering he is now a Las Vegas Headliner!), Andrew Frost - superb show with just a deck of cards. Definitely some fooling effects! Tomas McCabe was great with his law theme this year and most likely his last ever fringe show. Chris Dugdale was good as well. Again a nice theme through the show. James Phelan has been hyped a lot- was a good show but possibly too much time spent on Hypnosis for my liking. Martin Brock had a good solid show and possibly the best I’ve seen with an animating object segment. Lots of charisma and variety of effects. If you are visiting with kids go and see Morning Magic show with Tim Licata. Great show for families and lots of nice effects. Children of all ages were fully engaged throughout. Edinburgh was bouncing as usual and very busy but another good year. Around 80 magic shows this year so lots I didn’t get to see.

Had a great time performing for Laila and Remy’s joint birthday party today. Another lovely visit up to St Combs. Great children and loved performing magic for them.

I am often asked about where I learn my magic. There are many sources but my favourite source is my magic library. Just over 200 physical books. This doesn’t include printed ebooks. My oldest book was printed in 1894! There is something special about reading and learning from a book. When I first got into magic my source was the Aberdeen Central library- lots of great books that I quickly worked my way through. My recommendations for anyone wanting to get into magic are the following books: The Royal Road to Card Magic by Hugard & Braue and the amazing tomb of a book: Mark Wilson’s Complete Course in Magic by Mark Wilson. Two great books that started me off on my journey through magic.

I generally think that one of the things in life that I love doing the most is sitting in the garden in the sun with a deck of cards and some new reading material to develop new effects. looking forward to doing this more in the coming months as the weather gets better. Today is a bonus!
