❤️One Year Married❤️

How lovely was it to get a message a couple of weeks ago from a cracking gal who was married at The Cruin, and was coming back to celebrate her first anniversary with her husband.

Our sister company The Balloon Bar Loch Lomond decorated one of the lodges based in The Cruins grounds as a surprise for them walking in. Their lovely family had also arranged some bottles of champagnes for their room too.

Hi folks 👋🏻👋🏻 - Summer Holidays for ADU are fast approaching (yes I know, what summer?) 😳🌧️🌧️🌧️

We will be closed from this Sunday the 16th of June, but will be back in the shop for Monday 24th of June BUT will be working behind the scenes sorting the windows out and tidying up, so in effect still closed.

As we are always closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays the first day we are back open properly is Thursday 27th June.

Usually in all the times we close up for holidays, we are in working behind the scenes however this time all messages will be set for an auto reply to give the girls a complete week off with queries being answered on the 27th.

Don’t worry if you are marrying around this time as that will all be in hand. But all new enquiries will be dealt with on our return.

✨✨✨APPOINTMENT ALERT✨✨✨

So we can now safely say that we are into the full swing of the wedding and event season and we are LOVING it.

Add in your boot our big guy Stevie (the van) is back on the road. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 It’s all systems go, go, go.

But with being busy comes weekends where we are out and about. But fear not.

We have set aside some Saturday’s a month free where we can do dedicated appointments. Here’s our availability.

Saturday 11th May - 11am / 1pm and 2pm
Saturday 15th June - 12pm / 1pm and 2pm
Saturday 6th July - 11am / 12pm / 1pm
Saturday 20th July - 11am / 12pm / 1pm

These times are great for new enquiries and second appointments to finalise your decor plan.

🙈🙈🙈 So ‘Fess up time” 🙈🙈🙈

Yesterday saw the lovely Lindsay and Alistair get married at The Cruin, and being lucky to get in beforehand, checked the notes and dressed the chairs and tables. Job done……or so we thought 🫠🫠🫠

Turns out Lindsay and I had discussed a purple shade of sash in organza initially, but then we changed it in our meeting. And of course this wasn’t picked up. So Jean and I dressed the room with the wrong colour (it was lovely though lol).

Katherine at the Cruin called us to say “it’s the wrong shade” so off we trotted yesterday to amend the mistake. We don’t make many mistakes (but like everyone we are not perfect) however we were able to rectify things and put it to right in less than an hours time. It does pay off to live and work so closely to this amazing venue.

Here’s the “wrong” and “right” shades in use. 💜💜💜 P.S - How braw does the tea cake heart look!

♥️♥️Please can you all share?♥️♥️

Jean and I have been looking ahead into 2024 and there’s areas of the diary where we are needing some extra pairs of hands to help with event set ups, stock picking and clear ups. The job will be seasonal, on a casual basis and the hours will be offered up in advance so that you know when we require you. Could the person be you?

In order to be considered for the role you need to :-

A. Hold and have a clean driving license with preferably a few years driving under your belt. We drive Steve, our big boy van, who gets us from A to B safely.

B. Be physically fit as there’s lots of lifting and carrying involved. It’s not the place for anyone with a bad back or weak knees. (Or ankles Jean eh?)

C. Understand that working weekends are the main core of our business - we can’t consider you if you can’t make yourself available then.

D. Have a nice, cheery manner as you’ll be representing our company when working off site and working in the shop, answering the phone, taking card payments, being there to deal with customers and checking clients paperwork.

E. Be a thorough worker, someone who won’t do a half baked job just to get away early. You’d also be someone who doesn’t take 40 hours to do a job that would take me an hour to do lol.

No day is ever the same. Someone once said we are in the business of selling dreams! It isn’t all sprinkling diamonds as we are always working against the clock every time we go out - but the end results are amazing, knowing that you’ve worked really hard to make someone’s day extra special.

Some weeks an earlier than normal start is required, or a later than normal finish takes place - nothing crazy time wise but just not your normal 9-5pm.

Full training will be given to the suitable candidate. Any holidays booked would need to revealed before applying (please don’t be recruited then drop in that you are taking two weeks off June - July when we are at our craziest 😵‍💫😵‍💫). And also whilst I’m a Mum myself and your kids always come first, I’d say it’s not the best job to be working when you have really young little ones, as I know if they are sick then you need to be with them.

So before applying please consider all that we are asking for and if you think you could be doing with some extra cash at the weekend then please let me know.

The right candidate would be required to start for around end of March / April time and would work through to the end of September. It may be that we need you every second weekend or every weekend - but you’ll always know what’s needed of you.

Hiring or buying your kilt - they’ve got you covered. Plus ok the day of your wedding you can go in store to be dressed, just to make sure you don’t turn up with the wrong kilt on, or tie your laces wrongly.

Another cracking venue we love working in is The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss. Kitty and her team are wonderful, always so friendly and smiling with nothing too much trouble.

The hotel itself has beautiful bedrooms, exquisite food and garden space to die for. And you are literally a short walk to Luss Pier to get your iconic photos taken.

On Sunday 25th February they are hosting their first Wedding Show starting at 1pm. We’ll be there to offer decor advice and inspiration should you book this beautiful venue.

Again, make sure you are the passenger that day as the champagne flutes will be flowing and the canapés coming a plenty.

A venue we work in most days of the week is The Cruin - right on the edge of Loch Lomond. With stunning views, amazing food and great staff it’s always a firm favourite for us gals to set up.

They are hosting a Wedding Walk Round Open Day event on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th January, where you get the chance to view the room and facilities with a glass of bubbly in hand (make sure you are the passenger Princess that day).

We have some scattered January and February appointments available on Saturdays within in our showroom in Alexandria. Who needs to start planning?

Ideally to help you plan and design your decor we would ask that you have your date, venue and even an idea of style (colours / wedding dress etc) as this makes the planning process so much easier. However if you are still in the dark re this we can have a chat and suggest ideas. With an easy way to pay booking fee system you can leave the showroom with another thing ticked off your list ✔️

The venues that we work in mainly are The Cruin, The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel. But we also have great knowledge and work in The Lodge on loch lomond hotel, Ross Priory, University of Strathclyde - Loch Lomond, Abbotsford Hotel, Best Western Buchanan Arms Hotel & Leisure club, Ardoch Loch Lomond, Cameron House on Loch Lomond, Carrick Castle Estate and Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre - HLCC Events too.

Locally we have done many set ups in St Patrick’s Church Hall, St Kessogs Church Hall, Alexandria Masonic and Dumbarton Masonic Halls plus all the bowling clubs in the area too.

And whilst we mainly set up weddings, we also have loads of decor to dress a special event such as birthday parties, communions, anniversaries and christenings.

Get in touch if you are hosting an event at home as we can also supply decor on a DIY basis too - the options are endless.
