Thanks to Wickes and Heart of Bucks, and lots of lovely volunteers our community garden is really doing well. We have onions ready to be picked, lots of herbs, and some tomatoes and even cucumber.
It's not called a community garden for nothing, so please come and enjoy it

What happens when Heart of Bucks and Wickes support a local project?

Our community garden is starting to really come alive. The herbs are doing well, there are apples on the tree, and tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries are growing. The onions and potatoes are doing nicely.

Who benefits from a project like this?
Lighthouse toddler group will get to use some of the fruit and veg for snack time
Only Me (a cook, chat, eat group for people living alone) will use some produce in their cooking sessions
local people can plant, grow, and pick items.
'D' moved in to a local property recently and helped with the garden. It was a starting point for them to meet people, make friends, and get support.
Walton Wobblers bowls group have been enjoying the garden and watching it grow

We still have space in some planters, so feel free to join in - plant, grow, pick, share.

I haven't forgotten about the community garden that Wickes helped us with. The potatoes, onions and garlic are coming up nicely, and the apple tree planted by Scott from wickes has some flowers on it, which is very exciting.

Thank you Wickes for painting our meeting room today. We've already had this comment from one of our groups:

I just wanted to say that A BIG VOICE Pop Choir singers and I are very excited and appreciative to be having a fresh lick of paint in our weekly practise room. It'll certainly help freshen up the space and make it even nicer for the members of our community to come and socialise, sing together in a nice modern space, with a new kitchen too! Nice environments and nice things help make peoples experiences just that little bit more enjoyable and encourages through word of mouth more people to come out and socialise.

Just the one photo today. It's not an action shot, but a 'how amazing is that' shot! The tiles from Chiltern Tiles set off the cupboards and worktops from Wickes really nicely. JND Installations LTD have done a stunning job (and yes, the skip from Thames Valley Skip Hire keeps on going!).

What an amazing team of people. We are extremely grateful to JND Installations LTD and KRB Electrical for all their hard work today, and to Wickes for making it all happen.
I hope you enjoyed the music from BollyX this morning. Their class today was raising money for a young boy called William - Defending William against Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Yesterday the team were treated to songs and music from Lighthouse toddler group.

Anyone remember the Krypton Factor? These guys from JND Installations LTD are definitely candidates. They had a flat pack unit unpacked and built in the time it would take me open one box of panels!

Chiltern Tiles our new tiles have arrived, thank you so much. They are beautiful. I'm not sure I can quite describe how bad the old ones were. The kind that you just can't get clean no matter how hard you scrub.

You may see some changes at the Hall over the next couple of weeks thanks to Wickes and JND Installations.
The old kitchen is gone, as is the wall between the kitchen and the hall.
Today I came in to find that the screed for the new floor has been poured.
It's all very exciting

Do you enjoy singing? Come along on Tuesdays from 8pm at Walton Hall and join A Big Voice pop choir. Term time only. The next session will be January 2024

Thank you Wickes our planters are already looking great (two more left to put in place). Before too long they will be full of soil and plants. The trellis will be used to grow things like tomatoes and hopefully an espalier fruit tree (does anyone have any preferences for the fruit?)
We couldn't have done it without your fantastic donation. It's going to be a lovely oasis and a great resource.

Are you a dance or theatre school looking for space? Following the sad closure of Kercher Theatre School, Walton Hall is now available to hire on a Saturday. We have a Studio with ballet barres, dance mirrors and a recently fitted marley floor, a large hall, and another room that can be used as a waiting room or practice space.
