As a wedding photographer, I am usually approached by young couples to cover their special day. The broad age range requiring my services is usually somewhere between 23 and 45.
Being based in Bath means I’m often approached by Welsh and Londoners, too. But I love it when the older, more senior couple contacts me. These are often couples who have been there before or have found their true love later in life.
Sometimes, couples in their 50s or 60s decide to marry after cohabiting most of their lives. According to the Office for National Statistics, the percentage of over 50s who choose to do this is rapidly increasing. Mature weddings may also be on the increase for financial reasons. As a professional wedding photographer, I am thankful for any old or young couple who wish to use my services. All weddings are unique and help me remember how much love exists around us in this often crazy world. More senior couples have different priorities than younger couples getting married.
Firstly, many older couples planning a wedding will be financing the day themselves, meaning that depending on budget, their priorities may differ from younger couples whose parents are footing the bill. Sometimes, this results in a smaller, more intimate wedding.
I love small weddings as well as large ones. Although I can be discreet and shoot from a distance, it’s also nice to feel more included when fewer guests are present. I can spend more time photographing individuals and bring out the best from our portrait sessions.
Meet Michela and Steven from Swansea, their intimate wedding took place at the elegant Bath Spa Hotel where I’m a preferred professional vendor.
I am truly beyond happy for Michela and Steven.
