At the Dawn of Darkness, Let There Be Light
Unite in Our Fight against Totalitarianism — 34th Anniversary Commemoration of the June 4th Tiananmen Square Massacre
Once, freedom-loving people stood up against totalitarianism and ignited a prairie fire that lasted for 34 years. Throughout the years, Hongkongers persisted in the pursuit of democracy and freedom, not only by remembering the victims of Tiananmen Square Massacre, but also by standing at the forefront of the struggle in person.
To this day, although the totalitarian regime is still in place and all forms of public mourning for Tiananmen Square Massacre are now banned in Hong Kong, the will of Hongkongers to pursue freedom and democracy remains undying. Fighting against oblivion, persevering in inheritance, and preparing for the right time — are the common goals that unite every Hongkonger. Let the candlelight lead us on the path of truth, no matter how scatted we are in every corner of the world.
This year on the 4th of June, we are holding commemorative assemblies in three community parks in Birmingham, channeling the will of resistence into local communities. There will be exhibition boards recapitulating the protests between April to June 1989, and we will observe a moment of silence for the deceased. All are invited to join — to mourn and reflect on the threat of totalitarianism on humanity.
