Friends of Mithuluni Village

Friends of Mithuluni Village The water is transported from the river in containers carried by donkeys or people.

About Mithuluni Village
• Located in the Eastern Province of Kenya with an estimated population of 2500.
• There is one river which runs on the outskirts of the village providing water for all the community
• Every year the river runs dry between May and October . To enable survival, individuals have to dig the river bed to obtain the water which then has to be sterilised.
• Once the water has

been collected, villagers have a 1.5 hour walk back home. How we will help
By achieving our objectives we will:
• Enable the community to have fresh drinking water available all year.
• Reduce the risk of infection / diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
• Increase the yield of harvest.
• Maintain livestock.
• Generate food for families and any surplus can be sold to generate income.
• In return, enable children to go to secondary education, build stronger homes and increase the general well-being of the community.
