It's the little things that make life sweeter. Our Artisan Street Food Ice Cream is served to your guests via our newly commissioned Pashley Heritage Classic No. 33 Tricycle and replicates the 1926 initial design. A nod to a bygone era with its traditional three-wheels and in the livery of Eau de Nil, this bright blue-green is immediately discernible to the eye. Styled on the synonymous “Fortnum & Mason” Piccadilly, who have been selling confectioneries and hosted an ice cream parlour since 1707, this truly is a beautiful and indulgent addition to any wedding or social enjoyment, diversely appealing to all guests and fits seamlessly into our Artisan Street Food collection.

As the final part of our winter rejuvenation concludes, the soon to be revealed Marriage Pavilion culminates in a bold new era, enhancing the Maison’s legacy of being the first venue in England and Wales to host a civil ceremony. We would like to recognise the atelier of Stephen Morris in designing this space, where luxury meets romance, creating something extraordinary in the solemnisation of marriage.

The cold winds are settling and spring is finally rolling in. Months with more auspicious dates tend to be considered more suitable, but March can be a beautiful month, appreciated for new blooms, crisp air, and the beginning of spring, as our first wedding of the year demonstrates.
Our special March Tariff for 2025 underpins our ethos that “quality does not have to be a privilege or expensive”.

The enchanting roof terraces of our suites offer seclusion within a peaceful alfresco space. The decked terraces, flanked by 100-year-old Sicilian olive trees and modern influences, are a beautiful addition to the newly refurbished bedroom suites.
CJ Design & Build's first issue was getting the materials up to the historic roof space through the narrow hallways; the solution was to close the hotel for two days in late February, enabling a crane to lift materials onto the terraces.
We believe their efforts are self-evident. The south-facing terraces, with views of the surrounding landscaped grounds and countryside beyond, are a welcomed additional space.
So, whether you are partaking in aperitifs prior to your wedding ceremony, admiring the sunset in the evening as newlyweds or enjoying breakfast the following morning, we are in no doubt that these roof terraces complement the main attraction of the hotel suites.

For many years, the central atrium of the South Lawns Marriage Pavilion has boasted a unique and distinctive centrepiece as its focal attraction.
The marriage pavilion rejuvenation this winter has included a new installation designed by Stephan Moris. It is a botanical showpiece worthy of recognition.
The hotel's recommended florist, Stacey Stevens of Designer Flowers Essex, has worked meticulously alongside our electricians and chandelier supplier in creating this outstanding new work; its inspiration is based upon the stunning arrangement featured in the wedding of the blockbuster movie trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey".

The floral arrangement is enhanced by a cluster of eight vintage acorn chandeliers towering some five metres into the central dome, adding an impression of proportion and enhanced by their French elegance, intricate design and ornate detailing, all entwined with delicate white Japanese wisteria and the distinctive wild foliage of natural hops.

The resident's private hallway has been restored and rejuvenated and now sets the mood for what awaits within the hotel's suites.

The design nods to the historic features of the building, whilst the playful dark palette instantly makes guests feel warm and welcome.

Enveloped by a tonal palette of Mylands Artillery Ground wash to the walls, the Blackened Spawood parquet floor grounds the scheme. A striking panelled ceiling with minimalistic lighting provides a warm glow around the space.

The guest's console of glassware and goodies, artwork by Carlos Sangro and Vingcard cloud-based door locks reinforce the design principles of a home away from home.

Post winter remodelling, we have decided to share a glimpse into the quality and finish of our two refurbished honeymoon suites. The "Lowry" will be the first to enter service towards the end of February, with the "Louis" following shortly after in early March.
Each offers an expansive room which has its own distinct identity. Both provide exceptional comfort and space with an inviting open-plan design and are furnished by Natuzzi and accessorised by noteworthy suppliers like Ralph Lauren Home, Fendi Casa and Hudson Valley Lighting, which we trust will ensure guest comfort. Both suites will benefit from generous roof terraces flanked by Sicilian olives, contemporary terrace furniture and modern influences.
We truly believe they will meet the challenges of today's discerning clients.

We are keen to share some of the hard work of the estate's gardeners this winter. One of the many improvements has been in the Manor House, South Lawns; they have chosen to plant substantial Photinia serrulata trees in an exquisite topiary form. The ten trees originate from Asia and have been planted within large terracotta pots supplied by Corsiani, Italy.
The team says, "We chose this Photinia Red Robin due to its adaptability to water stress; they have a higher malleability with reduced watering and, as such, meet our sustainability programme regarding water conservation".
We believe they form an impressive backdrop to the formal grounds and are ideal for those Instagram moments.

We are delighted to share with you our update on the Indoor Garden Pavilion and wish to express our thanks to all those contractors involved with the entire refurbishment during our winter closure.

The Old Coaching Stables has been fully redecorated, with newly refurbished bar facilities and enhancements throughout. The Indoor Garden Pavilion has undergone substantial remodelling and has exceeded our expectation, and whilst we still await soft landscaping, it is pleasing to now see it in use. No matter the weather conditions, our Indoor Garden Pavilion can provide for outdoor celebrations in an indoor environment. It is as unique and unrivalled as our new Chic Alternative wedding package itself.

We now eagerly await a special delivery from Italy, our new twenty-metre shade awning, which will cover our cocktail terrace, adjoining the Indoor Garden Pavilion, providing a new and tasteful, Mediterranean style environment, overlooking the grounds and lake beyond.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all our clients for their support and patience through the difficult times of Covid, and rest assured, we have used that time wisely to ensure that we continue to deliver a service that is as synonymous as Friern Manor itself.

2020 held such dreams and hopes for most of us. As we close the year it is hard to put into words the difficulties we have all endured. It is thanks to your support, understanding and belief in Friern Manor that we have survived this year when tragically many excellent businesses did not. This has encouraged us to invest significantly in further improving our establishment. These works will be continuing through until the end of March in readiness to formally re-open for our wedding market in 2021.
