Chew Valley's New Forward Coach - Alun Lawrence

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alun Lawrence as our new forward's coach for the 2024/25 season. Alun currently plays for Cardiff Rugby and is a former Wales under-20 international.

Alun will lead the forwards on Tuesday evenings while working alongside Dean Brooker on Thursdays.

On behalf of the club we are honoured to attract a current Wales Premiership player and I am sure you will join me in welcoming Alun to Chew Valley.

A few changes in each league this season for Chew Valley RFC, the Cats were lucky last season with less travel but a mileage increase this season being in the NC2 SW - South instead of Central. 1st team have three new teams in the league Marlborough, Sidmouth and Royal Wootten Bassett. A few team changes for the 2nd team's league and a whole new league for the 3rd team! Exciting season to come!!

📢 Exciting News! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between the star* scheme and Rugby Recycled🤝 Together, we're making a difference in the lives of young rugby players across the UK. 🏉✨

Rugby Recycled, founded in 2011, has been transforming lives by collecting and donating old rugby boots and kits to underprivileged communities. This initiative started in Durban, South Africa, and has grown tremendously with support from clubs and schools in both South Africa and the UK.

Sian and Kelly from the star* scheme had the pleasure of meeting Gareth Simpson, the founder of Rugby Recycled, when Saracens played Bristol Bears. The previous day, Sian and Christian collected a massive donation of boots, t-shirts and sports bras for star*, ready to distribute across the star* network. 🌍🎁

Our partnership has already seen amazing results, including donations to four rugby clubs in the South West, like North Bristol Girls Rugby Club and Avonmouth RFC. Where we donated sports bras.🌍🎁

With this collaboration, we aim to ensure every young player has the gear they need to pursue their passion and develop their skills. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Together, we are stronger! 💪🏅

What a season it's been! 2023-2024 saw us clinch the title as Counties 4 Winners and U18's Somerset League Winners. And let's not forget our impressive triple-cup win.

Chew Valley Cats had a stormer of a season and will return to pre-season on the 2nd of July!

Chew Valley RFC Christmas Weekend 🎄🎉

1st team currently 2nd in the league 2 points under who have one game in hand. 1st face 8th place this Saturday!!

2nds head to wet Weston-Super-Mare however safe from rain and floods on the 4g. Playing 2nd team.

Chew Valley 2's currently have 49 points however aren't far behind with 45 points and are two games behind.

Chew Valley 3rds have a home game against 3's. Midsomer Norton are 6th in the league with CV 3's positioned in 2nd. The loss against Keynsham last week dropped the 3's off top spot. But with a team sheet like this I doubt they will be down for long.

Yet another rest weekend for they recently were pinned by the RFU for registration issues losing 5 points. Currently positioned 2nd in the league. However they haven't let that get them down with strong numbers at training and a cup win the Ladies are excited for their finale 2023 game next Sunday!

VP lunch this Saturday and Christmas Party afterwards we can't wait to see you all 🎉🎄🍾
