The National Brewery Centre

The National Brewery Centre The National Brewery Centre is a world-class museum and visitor centre celebrating Burton upon Trent
(362)

As well as a Wedding, Events and Corporate Venue, NBC is the only Museum in Burton on Trent and embodies the community history of the area by telling the story of beer from Grain to Glass. In particular NBC showcases the Bass Collection of archives and artefacts. Bass was an internationally renowned local company until 2002 and subsequent support to continue was secured from Molson Coors Brewing C

ompany. The Museum has been open for 41 years and has over time diversified to collect brewing archives and collections from all over the country reflecting social history, industrial innovation, and transport progress as well as manufacturing developments in Brewing. The National Brewery Centre acts as a national repository for brewing history.

The National Brewery Centre is now closed.

We wanted to personally post a reflective sentiment to all who have been associated and treasured throughout the years whilst Planning Solutions Limited have been in management.

Planning Solutions Limited manages visitor sites on behalf of Councils, Trusts and Businesses. We were asked to operate some 12 years ago, and ensured substantial investment be delivered for guests to delve and be immersed into history, whilst ensuring the site could be commercially independent.

We operated to ensure legends were told and memories made across every element of the site.

The sites successes over the years were not always easy, however, with stubborn ambition, it grew. The achievements can be directed to our fantastic teams, management, and army of passionate volunteers. To you all, we are thankful and grateful for your love and devotion with our shared vision.

This is a tough time, and we are sorry to be stepping away, but what happens next?

- There is equipment and there are items at The National Brewery Centre we own for the operation of the site, and are separate to the collection, which will be relocated safely or placed for sale.

- As a team, we do not believe we will be leaving Burton forever, as we speak, we are hoping to remain our Heritage Brewing Company within the borders of Burton Upon Trent.

- This page will evolve at the end of November into 'The Memories Of The National Brewery Centre' and we hope you will all add pictures and memories.

To conclude our curtain down, it is fair to say, The National Brewery Centre has been an icon of the nation and it has been a pleasure to have held and delivered its many stories with you and yours.

We raise a glass to you with thanks. 🍺

We all have a duty as custodians of the past to ensure future generations can enjoy the collections.

Since the announcement of closure, some people within our community have taken items from the collection on display. This is illegal and morally wrong.

The best souvenirs which can be taken away from The National Brewery Centre during its operation are memories, stories and photos.

We also have a few select items which can be purchased from our gift shop.

Tonight - ANYONE can bid for a carousel horse when 28 of the colourful sculptures that brightened Burton-on-Trent this summer are auctioned on Weds Oct 19 at The National Brewery Centre in aid of Burton and District Mind.

Wouldn't it be lovely to see plenty of them going to businesses and organisations who could display them to be seen and enjoyed by lots of people every day?

Did you know..... that in 2020 most of the Burton Swans sculptures, which were auctioned in aid of YMCA Burton, went to private homes? Yes, I was surprised too, but a lot of families wanted to own a swan sculpture for their own gardens.

ANYONE can bid for a carousel horse when 28 of the colourful sculptures that brightened Burton-on-Trent this summer are auctioned on Weds Oct 19 at The National Brewery Centre in aid of Burton and District Mind.

But wouldn't it be lovely to see plenty of them going to businesses and organisations that could display them to be seen and enjoyed by lots of people every day?

So, my plea to you today is THIS:
Do you know a business or organisation, someone you work for, or that a family member works for, who might not know about this opportunity to give a forever home to a piece of history and know that ALL the money they bid would help fund vital mental health service for adults and children in Burton and district?

PLEASE spread the word by showing them this post, or sharing it to your own social media channels. You are welcome to lift the invitation image from this post and/or circulate the direct link to the website where you can book tickets for the charity auction: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-big-burton-carousel-charity-auction-tickets-411881818607night.

Whatever happens around us, human beings will always thrive and benefit from sharing stories. I am very proud that Making Trails chose the story as the theme for the 2022 trail. I will be at the auction on Wed Oct 19 to talk about Orton and Spooner and the importance of storytelling.
