Chantal Lyons is a writer and naturalist, with a background in social and environmental sciences. Her book "Groundbreakers" was sparked when she first went to the Forest of Dean in 2014 to interview local residents about their experiences of living with wild boar, for what she thought would never become more than a Masters dissertation. But the story of this myth-like creature and its return to Britain took hold of her – and has never let go..
Join us on Friday (15th Nov) for a fascinating talk discussing why, with the few boar in England threatened by poaching and culling, are we not doing more to prevent their re-extinction?

Award-winning singer songwriter @martynjosephmusic joins us on 14th November and we can't wait!
This mind-blowing artist was part of BBC Radio 2’s “21st Century Folk “ project last year with his song “Albert’s Place. He has had appearances on BBC Breakfast TV, the Jeremy Vine and Ken Bruce shows on BBC Radio 2 along with Radio 4’s World at One.
Compared to Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, he has created his own style and reputation as a mesmerising live performer and stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives.
If you love music, and love electrifying live performances, this is the show for you.
Just a few tickets left. Get yours here: https://calstockarts.org/event/14-november-martyn-joseph/
Have you ever crossed paths with a wild boar?
Big, messy and mysterious, such an encounter can conjure fear and joy in equal measure.
Driven to extinction seven hundred years ago, a combination of the species’ own tenacity and illegal releases from the 1980s has seen several populations of this beast of myth begin to roam English and Scottish woods once more.

👻 As we approach spooky season, how about immersing yourself in something a little different this Halloween? 👻
On Thursday 24th October we are honoured to host Miranda Sykes, Jim Causley and John Palmer as they perform a show of curious songs and haunting stories celebrating the work of Sabine Baring-Gould.
Baring-Gould was an Anglican priest, hagiographer, antiquarian, novelist, folk song collector and eclectic scholar from Devon. This Victorian superstar inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the Hound of the Baskerville's, and Bernard Shaw’s Doolittle.
The trio will perform stories and songs to make audiences smile, gasp and sing along as they hear how a ragamuffin fiddler’s favourite tune lived on in his instrument after he died, the eerie mysteries of Wil O’ The Wisp and his graveyard trips, and how Bram Stoker took ideas from Sabine for Dracula.
