Those that follow solo ice dance will know this dress is Lily’s 2024 season free dance dress.
Striking in its black on black it’s the perfect costume for ‘Wednesday’ theme including Paint it Black.

Dress features princess seams front and back to give extra detail to this sheer costume. Lily wanted only Jet crystals . For added texture multiple crystal shapes were used galactic, Rivoli, Baguette, Pear and Round. So many different shapes with differing facets ensures maximum sparkle on a single colour theme.

Lily had a successful skate at Slough placing silver in Rhythm Dance and gold in Free Dance.

When Apple sent me her inspiration sketch and explained the relevance behind the details I knew this was a dress I wanted to create for her.
Her program tells a story of love, tragedy and grief. Life events so powerful she has written a book of poetry. Check out apple.com.uk for link to purchase.
Very little was changed from original sketch. The open back was changed to a teardrop and I managed to source Swarovski in Jet hematite in a range of shapes that provided the ultimate sparkle.
Finally everything came together in a performance of raw emotion in Silver Ladies 1 freeskate at Oberstdorf.

Superb picture from . Congratulations to 1st place Rhythm Dance and 1st place Free dance.

This year the rhythm dance theme is 1980’s . For me this was such a fun theme to create as I was a teenager and remember wearing a rah-rah skirt. A fashion item that has its own wikipedia page. We brought in the neon colours of tropical lime and electric blue and with Lily’s input created a asymmetrical crop top incorporating a fashion forward fishnet bolero.

This costume debuted at the Nacka Trophy in Sweden at the weekend where won Gold in Junior Ladies Solo Ice Dance.

This young man’s skating top went to the most northern rink of Scotland and had its debut at a Christmas gala. Hope to see it worn in competition in 2024.
Beautiful combination of dance crepe and stretch mesh with moto tucks picked out in Preciosa Dark Indigo make this top both comfortable and visually stunning .

Fun with heat transfer printing today. Eloise and I have jointed a textiles art class at our local adult community college and this was the theme for the week.

I see the potential for using this technique in costume. The class used paints today . Pens are also available for some fine detail designs. Imagine a Hogwarts emblem directly transferred onto lycra without the need for any appliqué. And its permanent and doesn’t make the fabric stiff.

A great achievement as they are a new pairing , only been skating together less than 2 months.
I was commissioned to match James’ shirt and tie to Millie’s gorgeous yellow dress that she sourced elsewhere

If you’ve seen my story today you will know something is wrong.

We were on our way home and should have landed at Stansted in the early hours.

Unfortunately a passenger had a medical emergency and the captain made the only decision he could under the circumstances and diverted to Amsterdam .

We are now extremely tired not having slept . The crew have exceeded their flight hours. Jet2 are sending out a second crew to bring us home along with the first crew who will board as passengers themselves.

This has a knock on effect as I have a lot of prior commitments next week. I will not have many spare minutes to discuss costumes. Please bare with me, I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Hugh skated an outstanding routine yesterday at Sheffield earning himself a gold medal 🥇 . Well done Hugh 👏🏻 👏🏻

Doubt anyone would be surprised to hear he skated to Queen with his Freddie Mercury inspired costume that I am very proud to have made.
