Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. It is very definitely YOUR day. As your celebrant, I will work closely with you, to make sure that your wedding ceremony is exactly the way you want it to be - YOUR way. The lovely Amy and Rob chose to hold their wedding at Danby Castle Barn, nestled away on the North Yorkshire Moors. A quiet, private couple, I got to know them well in the months leading up to their wedding, resulting in a very personal ceremony. To quote Amy "... We had the most amazing day and had so many compliments on the ceremony, so thank you for making it so perfect."

It is always an honour to be chosen by a couple to be the celebrant at their wedding. Taking time to get to know each other and creating a ceremony that captures exactly what they are hoping for is such rewarding work. My latest wedding took place in the beautiful Malaga hills. Amber and Scott were a dream to work with and we feel like friends now. It was an unforgettable wedding in a dream setting, the amazing Cortijo Juan Salvador. Congratulations Amber and Scott. Eagerly awaiting the start of my wedding season next month. My first three brides all have a first name starting with the letter A: Alice, Amber and Amy. This week I have also had an enquiry from a bride called Allison - she definitely needs me as her celebrant 😁👍.

After meeting the lovely A and J yesterday, I am so excited to be planning their wedding at the idyllic Charlton Hall in Northumberland. https://www.charltonhall.co.uk/weddings/. The fact that J is an identical twin and that his twin will be his best man, adds to the excitement. This is going to be one amazing wedding.

I am always extremely honoured when a family chooses me to write and present a Celebration of Life service for their family member. Each service is unique and, by working with the family, we create a beautiful service. Today's service was extra special. A much loved and well respected 94 year old gentleman; self made with so many tales to tell. The magical element was that his granddaughter is a professional harpist and played the entrance and reflection music during the service. It was absolutely stunning and such a magical, personal touch. I am sure that her granddad would have been beaming down on her. Such rewarding work, so humbled and grateful to be a civil celebrant.

It was wonderful to finally meet I and L, at the third attempt, and start to make plans for their summer 2023 wedding at the stunning Deer House on the Swinton Estate, Masham, North Yorkshire. The plan is to hold the wedding ceremony outside, in front of the arched doorway, weather permitting, and to arrange the seating in a semicircle. We all became very excited when I explained various mini rituals they may like to include. This wedding is going to be wonderfui.

Often it's the little things that can make a big difference. In conversation with M's family, the daughters mentioned that she was a lifelong supporter of Sunderland Football Club. I knew that I had a red and white scarf and asked the funeral director whether he and his team could wear the club tie for the service. The end result was a subtle, but clear nod in recognition of M's passion, which was appreciated by the family.

It is always an honour to work with a family to create and deliver a Celebration of Life service. It is even more of an honour when, following another bereavement, the family ask for me by name to lead the service. This morning we said goodbye to M, a lovely 91 year old lady. Only four weeks ago I delivered the Celebration of Life service for her husband, B. It was bittersweet to meet the family again, so soon. Once again it was an honour and a privilege to work with Mark and the team at Tynedale Family Funeral Directors at South Shields crematorium. As M was a lifelong Sunderland FC supporter, the team all wore red and white ties and I wore a red and white scarf.

It was an absolute honour to work with J, the elder daughter of 'A', taken suddenly and far too young, aged 53. J showed maturity way beyond her years and coped amazingly well with everything. Very welcome feedback from the family of a lovely 91 year old gentleman whose service I had the honour of leading at Durham Crematorium yesterday. A family man to the end, proud father to two daughters who, together with his wife, he called 'his girls.' He would often say 'If my girls are happy, I'm happy.' I never tire of meeting families and hearing stories about their loved one. It is an honour to write a Celebration of Life service and deliver it in front of family and friends. To receive such positive feedback is the icing on the cake. This is from the daughter of L, a 91 year old lady who loved life, singing and dancing. I really love writing ceremonies for my clients. Having spent time getting to know them and creating their unique script, when it's right, I know it's right and I get a warm, fuzzy feeling bubbling inside! Hearing that the clients love it too is the icing on the cake. I LOVE my job!!

Please could I ask you to help support the petition calling on the government to make the National Covid Memorial Wall a permanent memorial?
I know one of the people involved in creating and maintaining the wall, and they have watched the numbers of dedications in the hearts grow into the tens of thousands.
Every week the wall has an impact on passers by - recently, an elderly man stood silently watching as they were being interviewed by one of the endless camera crews that come there, when they finished, he came over with tears streaming down his face, whispered ‘thank you’, and walked away unable to say any more.
The petition will be taken to Downing Street on the 29th March, one year to the day since the first heart was painted (illegally!) on the wall on the Albert Embankment, opposite parliament. From the terraces of the Palace of Westminster, the wall of more than 150,000 hand painted red hearts is a constant reminder of how we have been failed, at a horrific cost.

Meeting a client face-to-face for the first time can be a little unnerving for both parties. Usually having spoken to the clients beforehand, you feel comfortable that you will click. Receiving positive feedback following the meeting confirms that they are more than happy with their decision to have you as their celebrant. I LOVE my job!!
