As we head towards the spookiest day of the year we thought it would be fun to post some spooky dance!

The first is a clip of the beautiful Edward Scissorhands.

Liam Mower and Ashley Shaw perform a duet from Edward Scissorhands to an empty auditorium at Sadler’s Wells. Filming took place in December 2020.

Well done to all at Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy school who took part in Wizard of Oz this week. So many Buzz dancers took part and we’ve heard you were all brilliant.

Last night our Performers gave another outstanding performance of The Wizard of Oz, Youth Edition to a third sold out audience.

Tonight we will visit the Emerald City for the final time and we are very excited to perform our WONDERFUL production for another sold out audience.

Thank you to all of our audience members for your enthusiasm and encouragement.

Performers we are so unbelievably proud of you all from the rehearsal room to the stage you have been nothing but professional, passionate and an impressive team!

Enjoy the final performance, it will be a memory to cherish.

Today Emma had a flying visit to London to work on The Royal Ballet and Opera’s Chance to Dance programme.
A day full of inspiration and creativity as the team unpicked the repertoire of Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland ready to teach to young dancers through creative practice.
A highlight of the day was learning the repertoire of the Queen of Hearts from former Royal Ballet principal dancer Zenaida Yanowsy. It was amazing to listen to her perspective on creating the character and also her background in dance. A truly talented yet humble human.

Photos and videos of Emma’s trip as many dancers had told her they hadn’t been to London or seen The Royal Opera House.

Dancer of the month for September ⭐️

Zoe is our first dancer to be chosen by her peers. We asked her company class to choose a dancer who was showing lots of dedication and progression. Zoe was chosen by many!

Dancer of the month ⭐️

Fresh from being dancer of the year Olivia has been nominated by Buzz teacher Nathan as dancer of the month. There’s no stopping her!

Olivia’s focus and work ethic in class is great and she has made great technical improvements in a short space of time. She takes feedback and applies it to her work and always comes into class with a smile and great attitude.

Keep up the amazing work Olivia 👏👏👏

Dancer of the month ⭐️

Amelia attended our company intensive in the summer and since then she has found a confidence in her self that she can do it!
She’s been working hard in all her classes and her progress is wonderful to see. She’s also finding amazing performance in her work.

Violet’s attitude and focus in class is brilliant and she always works extremely hard. She sponges up every bit of information and does her best to apply it. It’s lovely watching her improve each week because of this.

We have another dancer of the month!

It’s been Ava’s first month in intermediate level and we are seeing so much hard work from her every week, it’s great to see so much determination from her. She comes to class with a great attitude and tries everything we ask of her. It’s so lovely to see this and we hope she keeps it up!

This Buzz Dancer has been doing great work 👏👏

Harriet always comes to class with an amazing attitude. Always smiling and helping others too. She works very hard in each classes and doesn’t give up on things that challenge her.
Her confidence has definitely grown and she has become a wonderful performer.

A little peak into one of our Royal Ballet Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme classes.....

Our classes are engaging and fun but we also very much aim for progress. Here's what we are doing in this little video?

1. Dancers are working on their Demi Plies. They have to work on their alignment, maintaining their counter pull and then we've also added in them working on doing their plies in different counts. They start in 4 counts and then go to 2.

2. Dancers are working on their Port De Bras. The dancers are doing so well to create lovely shaping in their arms. We have asked them to think about their artistry too. Can they use their head and eye line?

3. Dancers are working on jumps. Although in this clip the main focus is working on their jumps they are also working on a couple of other things. Working in partners they are working on staying in time with the music and listening to the music for their musicality. Working with a partner they are also making friends!

4. Creative Task - our dancers are working on characters from The Nutcracker of King Rat and the Nutcracker. They are to build on this but this week they are having lots of fun!

So much more than simply doing a ballet class. The dancers are building skills for life.

For our 25th anniversary show we had a film company with us in rehearsals for our 6pm show. We hoped they would capture some of the magic backstage. We think they did! Buzz Dance Company ❤️ Friendship, encouragement, confidence building, excitement, joy, happiness, your child’s second home. A place where creativity thrives and individuality shines ❤️

World Ballet Day ❤️

We love ballet at Buzz, we have always taught ballet in a way that makes it fun and accessible but this year we strengthened our method of training by adding the Royal Ballet School ATAP method. This is an innovative, ground breaking method of training. We have been implementing this more holistic approach based on perform, create and appreciate into our classes since September and we are already seeing progression in our dancers.

We’re in our second year of this wonderful programme. Chance to Dance aims to make ballet more accessible for children and young people from diverse backgrounds.
It makes a difference to so many, from the artists delivering the work, the young people taking part and the parents and guardians watching their young people be part of something magical. Raising aspirations and creating positive change.
