Another double wedding week but smaller affairs this week with canape deliveries from our ready to serve menu. Both were outdoor venues - the Parade Gardens bandstand in Bath on Thursday and a woodland setting at Fonthill Estate near Salisbury today. These gluten free vegan Baba Ganoush Tacos were from the dietary requirements menu this morning. Gluten free tacos lined with lettuce to keep the base crispy, filled with Baba Ganoush and topped with cucumber mint and pomegranate seeds. I do love a pomegranate seed garnish!!

Double wedding weekend with a big marquee field wedding for 140 on Friday and a beautiful home garden based one for 72 on Saturday - lovely to be working alongside London based Bolland & Crust for a very appreciative foodie crowd.

As you know we are all about the canapes. But we also do a pretty good grazing lunch too - not just sandwiches and sausage rolls (although we do those too if you want them) - all sorts of options to choose from our Party Package menu. These from todays lunch - finger sandwiches, mixed crostini, salmon filo, caramelised onion croustades, meat fruits and crudites trays, salmon pate, brie camembert and grapes and a selection of puds.

Another busy weekend with a couple of complementary selections for school and church events in the village, a 50th birthday, a post wedding lunch party and a thankyou to the neighbours drinks party. Huge thanks to Helen for stepping up and to Ashleigh for stepping in when covid hit and to Jill for service on Saturday. A few pics of ones we don't make very often but I really don't know why .... Mozzarella and Mango with a rocket ribbon, Ginger prawns in coriander stars, Mini cottage pies and Little Croque Monsieurs.

A Canape Kitchen first this week with a road trip to Denstone College in Uttoxeter with 3,000 canapes for 1,000 parents at their prize giving day. Bit of a mis-hap en route but we coped!! I was slightly persuaded in to the job and it was jolly hard work so huge thanks to Jill Rachel and Sarah for their hard work and sense of adventure - and especially to Jill and Rachel for their roadside and crisis management skills on Thursday evening on the way up!!

Busy busy weekend with a 60th party yesterday - for someone off the telly but they stressed their privacy so no guesses or comments please - but they do know how to throw a party! Today we had opposite ends of the age scale with a christening canape lunch and a 90th birthday Afternoon Tea. Here's a couple of tastes of each event - Indian mango salad poppadoms, Baba ganoush filo, Sticky toffee cake with toffee sauce and a younger kids Tea box.
Feet up for the rest of the day with the F1 and the footie.

Slight menu change yesterday - our 21st birthday party was in a meadow a little way from the party house (and up a grassy slope) and our Thai chicken bites on spoons were never going to work! So we did Chicken Satay sticks with a peanut and chilli sauce - and wow what a hit! I'm not sure its really a canape but it will definitely be going on the menu. Thanks to Sarah and Helen for fantastic service. And it was a double event day so thanks also to Jill and Rachel for running a Temple of Minerva wedding in Bath. As ever I couldn't make these events work so well without you all xx

First delivery job packed up this morning - a members reception for the Bath Preservation Society at Beckford Tower. Thanks to Helen Jill and Mary for running an event for Barclays at Dick Lovett Ferrari this evening. More to come this week with drinks party canapes tomorrow and then a wedding and a 21st on Saturday. When I started this business I never imagined that 1,700 canapes a week would feel about normal!!

Its not all glamour in our world!! Here we are prepping outdoors from under the colonnades at Parade Gardens in Bath for Saturday's wedding. Had to dodge the showers for serving as well!

I do love a quails egg - its the perfect canape ingredient. Devilled quails eggs en croute from a wedding for 130 yesterday and one of our staples - Quails egg and bacon croustades from a little birthday lunch today.

Busy weekend as ever - an Afternoon Tea Wedding today (in the rain) and a 40th birthday party yesterday. They don't look quite as good on the venue's boards as on our black slates but here are a couple of new ones and a couple of old favourites from yesterday.

Parmesan shortbread with mozzarella tomato and pesto, Oriental chicken with coriander pesto in coriander pastry stars, Beef and horseradish yorkshire puddings and Mini duck pancakes. Thanks to Jill for yesterday and to Helen for today.

I have just caught up on the Masterchef canape episode and if you are wondering why their canapes were a little more multi-dimensional than mine - well - they made 9 in 90 minutes! We would have to make a couple of hundred in that time at an event!! They were beautifully constructed and great ideas - but not realistic at all. And another thing - Mary should have gone before Dinta!!

Thankyou for having us at Badminton Horse Trials today Wansbroughs. A very early 6am start so thankyou to Maggie and Jill. Savoury lunch canapes and sweet canapes for afternoon tea - we even got to see a couple of horses!! One more day to supply tomorrow.

Day 3 with a savoury and sweet menu for lunchtime and just sweet for afternoon tea .. Lunch was Tandoori filo, Tartiflette squares, Parmesan shortbread with beetroot pesto, Smoked Salmon crostini, Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and crushed gingernuts and a mini scone.
Afternoon Tea was Cranberry and orange shortbread with white chocolate drizzle, Sticky Toffee cake with toffee sauce and walnuts and Chocolate Log with chocolate mousse and fresh cream.

We have also done a selection for an early evening drinks reception for Fairfax and Favour today (but the photo I took of the selection was awful!!)

On site all day tomorrow with Wansbroughs - from 7am!

Day 2 of supplying to a client in the Lakeside pavilions at Badminton Horse Trials this week - 4 lunchtime savoury canapes and 3 little treats for Afternoon Tea. We will have a different menu for them each day.

My job is not just about cooking and making your event special with great service its also about planning and preparation. Next week for example we are supplying 3,040 canapes to 2 customers at Badminton from Wednesday through Sunday. This takes a heck of a lot of planning. Everything is assembled fresh on the day but I design our menus to include some bases that can be made in advance - take these Parmesan Shortbreads for example which will be topped with Beetroot pesto pine nuts, parmesan and cress. Just made 160 of these which will actually have improved their parmesan flavour over a few days. I will make the beetroot pesto the day before which also improves its flavour in the fridge.

Busy weekend with an Afternoon Tea party collection yesterday morning and a wedding for 100. Thanks to Maggie and Ashleigh for joining the team. No figs for love nor money this week so our Fig prosciutto and mozzarella skewers were improvised with melon. And a few more from the menu - Bang bang chicken filo baskets, Sticky chicken and mango skewers and Limey avocado and sweet chilli prawn tostados.
And extra thanks to Helen and Sarah for freezing in the outside courtyard serving drinks. It really was a chilly one!
Now off to prep for a wedding tasting and a small village party this afternoon.

Lovely review from a funeral yesterday:

"What a find! Perfect sized, freshly cooked, stunning canapés together with experienced and friendly staff. Thank you Karen and Helen for making our event so special."

And my favourite comment from an appreciative guest was "Bloody lovely!"

Here are a few from the menu - Mini baked potatoes with chive hollandaise, Thai prawn and mango wanton cups and Sticky orange and almond cakes with Greek yogurt and pomegranate.

One day. 2 parties - both 80th Birthdays. 20 canape varieties for 95 guests making 920 canapes for the day. Thanks to Jill for some assembly help at the first party (where she was also a guest) and to Mary for being my wingman at the second. I didn't take any photos so here's a random one of one of my personal favourites - Cucumber cups with blue cheese and bacon.
