SOLO THE SINGER – Solo started MCing at the age of 11 as a younger MC on his brother’s sound system King Shamma International. Experimenting with rap/hip hop for a while in his teens he finally joined Majestic Sound and was the soul selecta with Shadey as well as the MC with Daddy MG. After forming a great friendship with Kris Kemist from Reality Shock Records Solo voiced a heap of hit tunes, with no end in sight. Currently working on an album the vibes are far from over.

Captain Flatcap @ WoW Music Festival 2017
Captain Flatcap Live at WoW Music Festival 2017
Video by Jerry Tye & Kat Grand
Captain Flatcap is multi-genre, instrumental electronic dance music. It is the live 3-piece band (Chris Rotherham, Tom Rotherham, Matt Woods), the DJ (Chris) and the production/composition duo (Chris and Tom).
The live band has influences of swing and ska, funk, folk, and filth, and wields trumpet, flute, guitar, mandolin, keyboard, percussion, and a sh*t load of squelch!
The Captain has his own weekly radio show on KaneFM 3pm - 5 every Tuesday.
Captain Flatcap have supported and played with The Freestylers, A.Skillz, The Correspondents, Dutty Moonshine, Chris Tofu, Odjbox, The Electric Swing Circus, Too Many T’s, Father Funk and many more.
Our musical backgrounds are varied – we (Chris and Tom) were both classically trained from an early age. We both grew up being part of live ska, reggae, punk, swing, jazz, folk and classical groups, which explains the mixture of vintage genres we include in our music.
Our influences as composers have no limitations. Everything we listen
to helps to form our style, in that any specific aspect of a piece of music can inspire us, whether it’s beats, synths, melodies, structure, production techniques, or indeed anything. However, some of our favourite artists include Caravan Palace, The Cat Empire, System Of A Down, Bonobo, Infected Mushroom, Will And The People, Koan Sound, James Blake and Dizraeli.
Richie Hawtin (on our music) - "I like it! it's kinda... cheeky!"
