Learning Music
Ellen Peacock: Bachelor of Music β Canterbury University, Trinity Guildhall ATCL Piano Performance Diploma, ABRSM Grade 8 Theory
I started piano at the age of 7 in Hong Kong where my mother diligently took me to my piano lesson each week. I remember learning to read music as if I was learning another language. Music became another language in which I could convey myself. I continued to learn piano throughout secondary school in New Zealand where I was a part of a Specialist Music Program. I was involved in masterclasses, chamber groups, orchestra, and choral groups. I became passionate in performing music with other musicians. I completed my Bachelor of Music and in Music Education at Canterbury University in 2013.
With my experience in solo and group performance, I was exposed to different genres of music. I aim to provide you with a solid foundation in music and theory so you can explore and play the music you love. I focus a lot on basics such as scales, techniques, performance style which will enhance your confidence in playing and creating music.
I am happy to set goals with you such as sitting an examination, performing in a public setting etc. Anything that can help you see results and at the same time share your music with others!
