This week marked the delivery of the 1000th meal by the Monday lunch team! The lucky recipient of the 1000th meal was Tony Powell who also got a bunch of flowers!
During lockdown 1 the team started a weekly delivery service to villagers who regularly come to the usual Monday lunches held 6 times a year in the hall. Apart from a short break in the summer, this has happened every week since!
All the meals have been created in the Village Hall and cooked by Theresa Eames with help from her family, especially Pip, and also Ben and Nick. Becky Pain has also assisted with desserts, Sarah Aston with the all important roast potatoes at Christmas and Sue Devine has provided cakes. Rhys Lamplugh, Alex and Oscar Basu have also helped with the washing up. All whilst following strict Covid guidelines.
Alison Beer has helped to get some grants towards costs which has meant that the meals have been exceptionally good value!
All the meals have been delivered by volunteers, Carolyn and Lucy Timbrell, Liz Tyne, Meg Wren and Julia Buckley who have delivered all around the village and also to Mr.Trotman (preschool and school piano teacher) in Newport. Whilst doing these deliveries they have also helped with shopping, prescription collections and other small jobs.
The Hub has been very helpful collecting card payments for the meals over the phone taking away the pressure from going out to get cash.
And the Village Hall committee have been very supportive with the use of the hall facilities.
Well done and thank you to Theresa and her team for providing such an AMAZING service to the village!
