This weekend Edinburgh's Liquid Room is playing host to an all-night marathon of '90s rave anthems, house classics, hip hop jams. R&B hits and early drum and bass tunes.

Edinburgh Festival Official Closing Party 2023

MC Gavzie picked up the mic in the early 90s when Scotland’s rave scene exploded, establishing himself as Scotland’s No 1 MC, going on to perform at some of the biggest rave events of the time, including Awesome 101, Earthquaker and Rezerection, to name but a few.

Whilst for most, the 90s rave scene is but a distant memory, MC Gavzie still performs to this day, taking to the stage at various old-skool events like Reunion in Rosyth, where he is the resident and most recently performing alongside DJ Kid at Mallorca Lee’s 1994 event at the Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh to great acclaim.

MC Gavzie will host the show this Saturday, introducing all our fantastic DJs playing while giving you a taste of his unique MC style and lyrical flow.

His success came, first and foremost, with Ultra Sonic followed by Public Domain, selling over five million records worldwide, leading to him performing in places like New York, Tokyo, Ibiza, Russia, New Zealand, and Germany, not to mention touring Australia an astonishing 21 times!

From busting rhymes alongside rap legends Public Enemy during the London riots to closing for Tiësto’s sold-out Kaleidoscope Tour, Mallorca Lee has been there, done it and, most definitely, got the t-shirt-making him, without doubt, one of Scotland's most enduring, groundbreaking and long-standing DJs / producers who most certainly knows how to rock a party.

Kevin was a highly respected and popular DJ in Scottish dance music from the early 80s until the early 2000s, with multiple residencies playing across Scotland. He was most recognisable for his work alongside Tom Wilson on ‘Steppin’ Out’ on Radio Forth before presenting and producing his show on the same radio station to great acclaim.

Kevin may have stopped rocking Scotland’s dance floors and airwaves many years ago, but he still has that deep-rooted passion for music and DJ skills to match. Kevin will be playing a selection of 90s dance and house classics showing why he was such a popular DJ back in the day.

DJ FABULOZ is Edinburgh's top Urban DJ/Promoter with over 20 years of experience rocking parties, supporting the likes of Sean Paul, Missy Elliott and Pharrell Williams. As part of the Urban Events collective, he runs a packed-out weekly event in Shanghai on Edinburgh’s popular George Street since 2015.

As well as DJing, DJ FABULOZ is also a producer with his productions featuring on Kiss FM and BBC, where he’s also played host alongside Dj Edu on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

DJ FABULOZ will be laying down R&B Hits from across the years, guaranteed to make ya b***y shake!

Nasty P has been a bastion for anything and everything Hip Hop in Scotland for over 20 years, supporting artists such as Beyoncé and JAY-Z on their 2018 On the Run II Tour, KRS-One, Roots Manuva, and Rakim. As an artist and producer, he has a notable discography with five albums, two EPs and hundreds of mixtapes. Aside from producing and DJing, Nasty P also ran Edinburgh’s hugely successful ‘I Love Hip Hop.

Nasty P will throw down the finest Hip Hop Jams from back in the day as we celebrate Hip Hop's 50th Anniversary.
