We were extremely lucky this morning, nipped down to Findhorn on the VERY rare chance we might see the Bluethroat and he appeared straight away, only for a minute then gone again. What a gorgeous bird! Very rare visitor to the UK, spoke to a man who has been looking for one of these for 30 years!

Wee walk and finally got some decent photos of the Waxwings! These stunning birds are winter visitors travelling over here from Scandinavia in search of food. Some winters there are only a hundred or so across the UK, but there's hundreds at top of our road at the moment! great to watch them

Sat for over 5 hours last night in the pitch black in the hide and despite heated waistcoats, multiple layers of clothes and hot water bottles we were still frozen 🥶 Totally forgot about the cold when the amazing Pine Martins made an appearance though! What an amazing experience! Highly recommend Penny Hedge, Perthshire for anyone into wildlife, the hosts Sue and Mark are one of the nicest couples we have ever met and go out of their way to welcome you, we will definitely be going back.

Some pics from our few days away. Nice to find some new wildlife to photograph. Seen few otters but always too far out, great to watch them fishing though. Few new birds to add to our collection

Seen an unusual bird on our dog walk today and was asked to submit the photograph to SOC (Scottish Ornithologists Club) Who validate and record all rare bird sightings. Just had this confirmation from Martin Cook SOC recorder ....

Wow, superb! Yellow Wagtail of the subspecies known as Blue-headed Wagtail. This breeds in Europe but is a very scarce migrant to Scotland. We have only had 4 records in Moray & Nairn, and yours is the first to have a decent photograph. So, well done indeed!

Rather chilly few hours spent at our wildlife hide today but well worth it to see the squirrel antics, lots of wee birdies on the go plus the woodpeckers. Now home with the fire on and waiting for the Chinese to be delivered

After the rubbish weekend we had last weekend, it was great to spend a few hours out at the hide chilling, lots of wee reds on the go today, they seemed to enjoy the apples. Then a wee visit from the sparrow hawk!
