Throughout my journey I have received such positive feedback from my audience and have found a passion within connecting & engaging with you. With one month to go until our first ‘pop up’ style opening I wanted to leave this list of dates here for you to save, add to your diaries & pay us a visit when we open.
I don’t know of any other businesses who operate quite like this so it’s a little scary but we have high hopes that we will be welcoming you all back when we open our doors for select dates only.

Today feels like the first day of my new job! I’m going back to the roots of where Picky Bits started almost 7 years ago and will be creating spreads & platters for your events & lunches for your workplace.

🏆 BBQ PULLED PORK BUN - slow roasted pork shoulder in sauce, melted Monterey Jack cheese & garlic mayo on a toasted brioche bun. HOT!
🏆 CHICKEN BACON CLUB - with a twist. Avocado mayo, tomato & crispy fried onions. This is its 4th appearance on our menu since we opened!
🏆 ONION BHAJI SARNIE (v) - had to give this one to you again before we close for summer! Served with mango chutney & a beet yogurt slaw.

ITS GOODBYE FOR NOW 👋🏼
BUT NOT FOREVER
I announce with a heavy heart that the shop will only be open in its current capacity until Saturday 3rd August.
We are changing the way we operate and will no longer be open every week.
Please understand that this has been a very carefully considered decision & I’ve been around in circles about how I can do it differently, but we as a team are all very passionate about what we offer.
Firstly, I want to say that I have had SO much fun during this whole experience! I’ve built a community of customers who have become friends & who love food as much as I do. I am incredibly grateful for everyone who supports us.

But it’s an emotional & financial rollercoaster. When the shop is busy it’s wild! I’m on top of the world, albeit a little stressed trying to get everything done. But on the quiet days I’m a nervous wreck navigating labour costs, food waste & wondering what I’m doing it all for.
Truthfully, the overheads are beyond my wildest expectations. I’m sure some of you see 9 quid for a sarnie & think I’m a thieving bastard but the reality is that some weeks it has cost me to be open.

I’ve accidentally managed to create a business model that requires my attention 6-7 days per week 12-16 hours per day. This way of working doesn’t align with the life that I want for myself.
I can close this chapter knowing that I have given it absolutely everything I’ve got. I put my heart & soul into this place, but I’m worried I’ll have no soul left, and I don’t want to be remembered as the girl who just worked all the time. You all know that I love what I do. But it’s continuously relentless & I don’t wish to put myself through the uncertainty anymore.

So what next?
Most importantly it’s not the end & we are not permanently closing. Swipe across for select dates when we will be open for the rest of this year, business as usual!
I will be returning my focus to the catering side of my business which is quite literally my bread & butter.
There is still so much to share with you & so much more information to come. We have exciting plans & big ideas & I’m looking forward to next chapter of Picky Bits.

I have been creating gorgeous grazing platters for many years now & I have been making a conscious effort to share more of my work behind the scenes of the shop. I become so consumed with products that we sell out front that my platters don’t get enough airtime. So I hope you’ve been noticing more of them on our feed and stories lately!
We currently have space for platters every weekend in July & some weekends in August. They are all individually priced so you can order just 1 or order a whole selection to create your own spread!

WELL THATS A BIT MORE LIKE IT 💪🏼

I’ve had an outpouring of support since my vulnerable outburst on stories on Monday. If you missed it I was letting you all know how quiet it’s been here in the shop front & urging you to support independent local businesses over the big chains. Today our sales were up a whopping 91% against last Wednesday. We did 75% more transactions than the same time last week. A bloody fantastic day & hopefully it’s not too shortlived. Please continue your efforts to support the little guys. We need you more than the stuffy corporate chain shops.

WHAT A YEAR THIS WEEK HAS BEEN 😅

It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride the past few weeks at Picky Bits and I’m not one to moan (much) but I thought it would be good to give you a little update from me.
Firstly… we had an UNREAL week in the shop with so many of you coming to visit us & try our creations. From the OG customers to lots of first timers. We hope to have many more weeks like this one so we can continue to do what we love doing! THANK YOU 🙏🏼

I’ve had a few hurdles ranging from staff shortages (if you hadn’t heard), a power cut & generally juggling running & stocking up of the shop with the catering side of the business.

This coming week the shop will only be open Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th. We will need to stay closed on Wednesday due to the volume of catering jobs we have on this week & it’s only me & Sarah (and my poor Mum has also been roped in!)
Next week is also BRITISH SANDWICH WEEK and we will be celebrating by offering some British Meal Deal classics. Stay tuned for the details.
It’s going to be a tough one to get through next week and I can’t do any of it without your support, your messages of encouragement, your orders & your visits to Picky Bits.

WE LOVE OUR NEW MENU BOARD 🤩 Although the majority of you that come in already know what you’re having, it may come as a surprise that not all of our customers are counting down for the menu drop on a Tuesday afternoon. (What else they could possibly be doing I don’t know!) So we knew we needed some helpful visuals out front. We’ve been open 10 months now & things are still falling into place. We are improving our service & systems all the time! My scruffy little sketch was bought to life and doodled by @creativelii. She’s so clever! NEW YEAR, NEW BUSINESS 👊🏼💫 With it being a fresh new year, some of you will be thinking about starting your own business. Now I’m by no means any sort of business coach but I wanted to share with you a part of my journey that wasn’t exactly pleasant. There is a lot more to the social club saga, but my message today is not about them. My story is to let you know that there might be people along the way that will tell you that you’re sh*t. But, if you’re doing something you’re truly passionate about then please don’t stop. If I had listened to the comments about how ‘terrible’ my food was then I would have given up & been in a completely different job by now. KEEP GOING! Always listen to your gut. Listen less to negative people. and something wonderful might happen 💫
