Some *hopefully* useful information to those planning to marry 👇🏻

In Scotland, you can be married anywhere you like (providing you give at least one month’s notice) including scenic outdoor areas, your own house or even garden. A Celebrant, such as myself, can guide you through the procedure and then officiate the wedding on the day you choose to say the vows.

The two legal requirements to be married are registering your intention to marry (submitting marriage notice forms) and saying the vows in the presence of your Celebrant and two witnesses. Myself and my colleagues at Independent Humanist Ceremonies proudly advocate equal marriage.

Aside from these considerations, your ceremony can be whatever you want it to be. Personally, I love working with couples to develop a ceremony they will remember forever. This usually involves me telling their story to their guests, with a nice balance of the romance and the light hearted.

Some other things that could feature in your ceremony include (but are not limited to) lighting candles to symbolise remembering and bringing absent family and friends through the ceremony with us; Tying the knot (hand fasting); drinking from a quaich with family members from each side; blending of infinity sands to symbolise the blending together of lives and many more. I am always open to new ideas and traditions from elsewhere too. I’ve had plenty of wonderful and interesting multicultural weddings as well as ‘traditional’ Scottish weddings.

Ultimately, it’s your day and we do it your way. I’m just here to help make your ceremony special as part of your big day.

Please feel free to message with any questions or booking enquiries you may have.

As ‘wedding season’ quietens, I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has booked, recommended, had me as their Celebrant, left the wonderful reviews. I am grateful to each and every one of you, and I continue to love what I do. As things quieten a little, it’s an opportunity to catch up, and to meet new couples. If you or someone you know is looking for a Celebrant, get in touch. Thank you all, once more ❤️ (PS- I couldn’t choose just one snap from all the beautiful weddings I’ve been part of, so please enjoy this randomly selected pic of Diego enjoying a ‘Puppaccino’ 🐾

Congratulations to Raymond & Sara, who married at the Strathaven Hotel this weekend. These two beautiful Dalmatians, Ruby and Poppy, were a huge part of the day, and I even had the pleasure of taking them a quick walk while the groom helped the best man with his kilt 😂🥰

I know it’s pretty niche but posting for information, in case it’s of use! I’ve performed a few legal wedding ceremonies in Spanish (to varying degrees)now and had enquiries to do more. If you know of anyone getting married in Scotland who wants/needs part or all of their ceremony to be in Spanish then you know where to send them 👇🏻

I realise I haven’t posted on here for a while; it’s been a busy year! Thank you to everyone who’s had me as part of their special days and to those who’ve still to come ☺️
