Our final tip for a busy wedding dance floor, #10 - Remember the golden rule, if the newlyweds are on the dance floor, everybody else will want to be on the dance floor!

With everybody wanting to offer their congratulations, it can be difficult for the newlyweds to actually make it to the dance floor. A good way to avoid this is to get your mingling out of the way beforehand, perhaps at points during the day or during cocktail hour as the room is turned around for the evening. That way, you’ll be free to hit the floor as soon as the music starts and, since you’re the guests of honour, your guests will be eager to join you there 🪩

Tips for a busy dance floor #9 - Consider the use of props 🎷

Bringing out props half way through the night can really add a new lease of life to the dance floor. Props don’t have to be tacky. You can evenfind props in charity shops that match the theme of your wedding. Some ideas are heart shaped glasses, hats or glitter wigs which will add a bit of sparkle and fun to the dance floor. A prop that we have seen adds lots of energy to the dance floor is a simple stick or cane for your guests to limbo under.

So it’s probably about time that we introduced ourselves!
We’re Jon & Dani. We tied the knot on 08.06.24, and thought we should give the people what they want, and upload some of our own wedding snaps. Having supplied weddings for over ten years now, planning our own wedding has been full of ups and downs - so we completely resonate with couples who book with us because we’ve been there too, now on both sides.

Our wedding was truly the best day of our lives and a day we’ll never forget. We know how to get a party started and can’t wait to meet all of our 2024/2025 couples in the upcoming months 🤍

Tips for a busy dance floor #8 - Get the right size dance floor 💃🕺🏻

There will never be a point where every single guest is on the dance floor. People will be at the bar, chatting in a seating area, in the toilets, maybe outside smoking. That’s why it’s important that you don’t go too big with the size of the dance floor otherwise it will never look busy. If the dance floor is too big then it can make those dancing feel too exposed and may put them off. A full dance floor creates the vibe that just about everyone is dancing, which is likely to tempt fence sitters to get up and join the crowd. Typically you should prepare for around 40% of your guests on the dance floor at any one time. A good rule of thumb is that there should be at least three square feet of dance floor space for every two guests. So, if you have 150 guests, you would need a 15ft x 15ft dance floor.

Tips for a busy wedding dance floor #6 - Get the lighting right 💡

During the wedding breakfast and speeches you are going to want a well lit room however, a bright room in the evening can make your guests feel self-conscious at not want to dance. Think about when you go to a concert or the theatre - the lights drop as the acts are about to perform. Speak with your wedding coordinator to ensure that the lighting in the room is reduced in the evening. This is where soft venue uplighting can be a great way to create the perfect setting for a party atmosphere.

Tips for a busy wedding dance floor #5 - Don’t sit older guests near the speakers 🪩

They usually don’t enjoy the volume. Instead sit your liveliest guests near to the dance floor. That way, they will be the first to get up dancing which will encourage the rest of your guests to follow. You can also ask your more outgoing friends to help keep everyone else on their feet 👣

Tips for a busy wedding dance floor #4 -
Ensure that the bar is close to the dance floor 🪩

This may be something that is out of your control but is definitely something that should be considered when booking your venue. If the bar is far away from the dance floor or even in a different room, then you are going to get people moving backwards and forwards which will often empty the dance floor. People like to congregate and chat near the bar so have the bar nearby so that people can pop their drink down and hop onto the dance floor to keep things nice and busy all night long 💃🕺🏻

Tips for a busy wedding dance floor #3 - Don’t have *too* much seating 🪑

Of course during the day time each of your guests will require a seat if you are having a sit down meal or speeches. For the evening however, a good portion of the seating and tables can be removed to create space for the evening celebrations. In particular, you don’t want to have many seating areas outside of the room where your dance floor is otherwise people will often congregate there and forget that there’s a party going on in the next room.
