Meet Chris Marsh - Committee Treasurer
Acting arrived as a pastime of mine quite late in life. It was not something that I had ever tried at
school or anywhere else. And yet, aren't we all actors as "all the world's a stage"?
Ombersley DS is an extremely relaxed and friendly place where every new member is encouraged,
even those that don't need much encouragement to pitch in usually! I have acted in several funny
plays and pantomimes and in recent times have directed a couple of productions which may be
more fun and less stressing in terms of line learning...on the other hand.
Now over 70, I wonder when we will all be sent to a home for luvvies?

Meet Becky Weir
Position on Committee
Committee Officer
What do you do in real life?
I am a counsellor/psychotherapist I run a social enterprise www.midlandtherapygroup.co.uk providing affordable counselling to the community.
How long have you been with ODS?
I joined towards the end of 2021 in the middle of rehearsals for Dick Whittington.
What made you join?
I was scrolling through Facebook on a Saturday evening after a glass of wine and saw a shout out for people to join the chorus; it seemed like a good idea at the time and I haven't looked back.
Why would you recommend joining?
It is fun and different, everyone is really friendly and supportive and I have challenged myself to do something new. I have met some great people made new friends.
Favourite Play
My first panto in the chorus of Dick Whittington, it was really fun, but I did love being the ghost this year in Jack and the Beanstalk.

Meet Alex Fitzgerald
What is your position on the committee?
Committee Officer

What do you do in real life?
Pensions Team Leader for the NHS

How long have you been with ODS?
Over 8 years

What made you join the group?
I had always wanted to perform and then a friend mentioned that they were looking for someone for the role of Sammy in Robinson Crusoe and I came along and read and the director, Mike, was happy and the rest, as they say, is history.

Why would you recommend joining?
We are a really fun and friendly group and try to get as many people involved in each production as possible. There is also plenty of opportunity to try something new and we will help you get over your stage fright for your first performance!

What is your favourite performance that you have been involved in?
This is a hard one as I have loved every production that I have been in for different reasons. I loved the first pantomime that I was in - Robinson Crusoe - as I wasn’t really sure what I was doing but it was manic and there was a lot to do! I learned a lot and absolutely loved it hence why I have been in every one since! I also recently directed a play for the first time which was a new challenge but one that I greatly enjoyed.

What mad you join?
I have enjoyed amateur dramatics for many years and have been a member of various am dram groups in Worcester during this time.
Why would you recommend joining?
ODS is a friendly drama society, everybody is welcome. Usually performing twice a year, there are opportunities for everyone both onstage and backstage, and it is a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends
