The Garforth Jazz Rock Band was formed in October of 2003 as part of the Garforth Community Arts School, called Arts Live, operated by, and based at, Garforth Academy in Garforth, East Leeds. The band was formed under the guidance of band leader Dave Evans and remains under his direction to this day. We always welcome new faces! You do not have to audition but as a guide you need to be approximate
ly grade 5 to join – we will never ask for the certificate – this is just a guide for you. We place a high emphasis on improvisation, but there is no pressure for people to solo. Every member of the band is extremely valuable to the whole, and even through the gig diary is busy we have enough players to cover – so there is no expectation to do every gig. We rehearse on term-time Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:45pm at Garforth Academy.
