It is suited in a small town called South Wigston on the out skirts of the old historical town of Leicester. The Retro Suite was formerly the old art deco Ritz cinema which was opened in the mid 1930’s. The venue is fully equipped with conference technology, modern facilities, a wine and coffee bar, lounge area, large fully licensed bar with dance floor and in house catering team to cater for your
needs. The Retro Suite has been fitted with all facilities to run almost any size event, with a fully licensed bar, large catering kitchen and a dance floor to get your groove on! It is also suited for conferences; with wireless internet, a large flat screen television and projectors all available at your convenience. The building is also fitted with internal and external 24hr CCTV for security of visitors and staff. History
Ritz picture house was opened in 1920, all seated was on a single floor, in 1938, plans were proposed to enlarge the building by adding a balcony, but found the foundations were not strong enough, so the picture house was demolished. A new cinema was built in the Art Deco style, and it opened is door to the public in September 1939 by a local business man called George Smith, known locally as picture Smith. The cinema was given seating provided in stalls and circles levels. The Ritz Cinema was closed in 1980 and was converted into a bingo club, being called Ritz bingo and social club which closed around 2007. Today the building has been renamed as The Retro Suite, keeping most of the Art Deco style in and outside of the building, while being refurbished throughout with modern technology by SKK Venue LTD. Turning it into a great venue centre for the community of South Wigston and Leicestershire to use. The Retro Suite has two amazing function suites that can cater for a total of 400+ people. MAIN HALL
The venue is dominated by its main hall situated on the ground floor, capable of holding events of up to 300+ people, containing a bar and large dance floor with its ‘Art Deco’ feel throughout. The Retro Suite is therefore the perfect venue for your wedding day, providing you with not only a venue but contacts with local traders, specialising in catering, floristry & wedding decorations etc. UPSTAIRS SUITE
There is also a second room on the upper floor complemented for its intimate atmosphere, original curved ceiling, soft lighting and two mezzanines. This space is ideal for those smaller occasions such as a reception or VIP area, though still capable of holding up to 100 people. A small bar is also available for your function plus this level has its own facilities with a cloak room.
