Yesterday, our super-user/organiser Giorgia organised a stand-up 😂🎤 activity: we went to see Ali Woods Gigs perform and it was just the best way to spend a Sunday in 🇬🇧 , with new friends. Not only was it a hilarious show, we got to grab a drink after and get to know each other better!

🔜 While our beta version ended and we are now focusing on fundraising, our beta tribe keeps on going because our users started building great connections! (For non start up folks out there, this means we tested our model, and are getting ready to launch full scale soon 😊 )!

A week ago, Amiko ended its version!
What does this mean? Well, we are working very hard to launch an amazing product in September!

1. More details:
First things first, THANK YOU to all who have followed and supported our first baby steps! In the last few weeks, we have run our beta in London, and we are glad to share that:
🚀Close to 2000 people joined our waitlist without a single marketing effort.
💫 We have hosted over 30 events to date, with customers feedback averaging 9.9/10, users attending multiple events in the same week, and talented people organizing activities on the app.
🕺We had a ton of fun, met new , and did stuff outside our comfort zone, from Karaoke to jumping into an icy pond!

2. Now what?
🚀 We intend on launching the full product in September in , which means making it available to more people than just selected beta users. We will thus open the waitlist to more people and start a few hyper localised tribes across the city in just a few short weeks
💰 For this, we are right now trying our best to with , and more in order to be able to develop our own tech, hire top talent, and launch a big marketing campaign (if you have tips on fundraising or marketing, please let us know).
🔛 What does this mean for our existing tribe you ask? We are so thankful to our beta users and organisers for making this happen, so they will continue to have access to this tribe for free. That’s also because so many of them started to build connections and ! When we launch, we will however also 🗺 give them the chance to choose another closer to them!

We have so many cool activities happening on Amiko for our first beta ! The best thing? We know we’ll bump into some really cool users for the 6th time this month!! IRL activities ➕ a stable community around you of your age group 🟰friendships made easy!

Recap 🤓: almost 2 months ago Andrea Venzon and Colombe Cahen-Salvador started working on Amiko, the platform to make new friends through activities!

How we do it is by generating a tailored made tribe for you 👉 a stable community of around 100 people near you, of the same age, that are looking to meet cool people! Basically, we recreate the university / pre-covid workplace feeling that made it easy for many of us to meet our people 💕

We are working hard on this because we both felt it was hard to meet new people outside of our existing circles, like we didn’t really have a community around us in a new city! And we aren’t alone: 61% of young adults feel lonely often.

In just a few weeks, we held countless activities for our beta tribe (young professionals in London), had many great users become kickass organisers, have seen so many repeat behaviours and friendships created, got user feedback > 9.9/10. And much more!

We want to launch full scale in September and quickly scale across the world, but for this need 💰: to survive, to hire top talents, to develop our tech, to do some basic marketing and more!

🚨 UPDATE 🚨

🤓 Recap: is the platform to find new , through social events. We do that by generating a tailored-made for you: a community of users near you, around your age group & with similar interests.

🔝We launched Amiko’s beta version a few weeks ago, and it has shown that we can build , meet new fantastic people in real life, and have fun even in the post-covid world 🙂

🔜 Starting this Sunday, the beta will enter its second and final phase. Based on the feedback and observations gathered in the last few weeks, for the whole month of June, we will test out several new features - brace yourself:

1️⃣ Creating a local community around you: instead of organizing just events, we figured that it could be easier to build new relationships if users were put into cohorts of people from similar age groups, with similar interests, and living around them. In the future, these groups - which we call Tribes - will be very local at the neighborhood level, but for the sake of the Beta test, we will keep all of you in a bigger, London cohort 🙂

2️⃣ Free events, with a small membership fee (post-beta ;): to facilitate participation in multiple events, we will provide our Tribes with a consistent flow of free events organized by our super users - aka organizers. Thanks to the contribution of a small monthly membership fee, organizers will have a budget to prepare events, book things, and pay for their time! For the beta only, we will not levy any membership fee - as such, some of the events might not be free yet 🙂

3️⃣ A new platform to meet your tribe! And yes, as we like to sleep little and work a lot, we have prepped a new test platform for you to book events and get to know your community better. Even if fully branded Amiko, the app is hosted by a very cool software - when we raise money, we will indeed develop our own software!

2nd event ➡️ 2nd success!

Yesterday, some of our beta users met in a West London Pub to meet new cool people, learn about 💰, and have a drink together!

Our user Frank masterfully shared his interest (and skepticism) about the topic, leading the group in the case of 🇸🇻 , a country whose eccentric president tried to market as a crypto paradise🏖. Also, this time, the event lasted more than 2.5hrs and - fingers crossed🤞 - all participants had a great time and forged new bonds!

If you have ever met me in person, you know I love to hug family & friends 🤷‍♂️

Since COVID-19 invaded our lives, big huggers like me lost a big part of how we related to humans around us. And whether you like hugs or not, we all lost many opportunities to meet new people, connect, and grow. Still, today, with the pandemic losing momentum, we all struggle to get beyond that feeling of isolation and apathy, a novelty for many of us.

This is why Colombe Cahen-Salvador and I are building Amiko, the platform to meet new friends. By participating and hosting social-first activities across the planet, ‘s users will be able to create the community of friends that we all need.

Last Sunday, we had our first test event, a fantastic ☕️coffee tasting organized by Conscience Kitchen, a local shop in Notting Hill, London. Participants came for a 75 mins session, stayed for 4 hours, exchanged numbers, and had - I believe - a truly great time. Colombe and I were over the 🌙.

This week we are continuing our beta phase: tomorrow night, a friend will be hosting a pub discussion about cryptocurrencies💸, and on Sunday, I will host a HIIT workout in Hyde Park🏋️ (wish me luck)! The uniqueness of these events is that - apart from being fun and enriching - they will always have a social moment where people can connect and get to know each other.
