Dende Collective

London based theatre company Dende Collective was created in 1999 and most of our work to date has had a strong Brazilian flavour to it, and like the dishes cooked with the Dende oil, Dende Collective’s shows are a savoury feast, often with an international feel to them, bringing together a rich mixture of styles and visual elements. Our work can take different shapes and forms:

Brazilian plays in commissioned translations, adaptations, new plays, devised projects; and have been presented in theatres, on the streets and specific sites - content dictates form. Dende Collective also produces educational programs aimed at enhancing and encouraging community and young people involvement with live theatre, running a series of education activities in schools, art centres and community projects

Dende shows bring to the stage the exciting cultural mixture that makes London one of the most vibrant cities in the planet, attracting to the theatre a wide range of diverse audiences.

Lovely film by Bob Karper on the project GARDENS R US my company Dende Collective did at Penfold Community Hub in Feb and March this year is in YouTube now. This was an interspecies cross-dressing project for the 60+. Beside Bob, I collaborated with Caroline Jones who co-facilitated with me and designed all the art work templates the participants worked on to create their alter-egos. Super proud of this project and the video is quite touching and full of wisdom from the community participants including my mum Selma Pink. This project has been a collaboration with HCGA part of Grow Green – Grow Well funded by Westminster Healthy Communities Fund.

Over two months participants explored their inner bug, plant, and fungi in this fun drama & inter species cross-dressing project. Inspired by the world of ga...

New project at the Church Street area where we deliver the Dende Elders Project: THE CHURCH STREET MASK PROJECT, an intergenerational project for 18+ and 60+ (all are welcome as long long as 18+).

During the month of August we will hold an open creative workspace at Penfold Community Hub for all to make masks and learn how perform with them. Participants will learn how to make a papier-mâché mask, create a costume for their characters and learn how to bring their masks to life. On the last day there will be a walkabout performance for the characters on Church Street.

The classes are completely FREE. All materials will be supplied by us and no previous experience is needed.
