"Now I’m home & caught up on sleep thought I’d send an email.

The house is amazing! I’ve never stayed at a house that is so well equipped, the three dishwashers were a game changer. Thank you so much - everyone loved it - the hen especially - and lots of people have taken the details for future events".

Fig balls. Baked cheese. Hard cheese. Soft cheese. Pate. Charcuterie. Cut fruit. Cherry toms. Green salad w herbs. Crisps. Mini pizza slices. Chorizo quiche. That should do it!

Some lovely feedback from an off site catering gig - a Harry Potter dinner for 14, complete w pastry frogs and bunches of herbs from the garden - “I just wanted to say how fantastic everything was. The food was delicious and the table decoration was breathtaking. Both of the people were so lovely and great as well! The bride had a wonderful time and the Harry Potter theme was perfectly executed!”

Moroccan buffet for 28 tonight. Followed by rose & pomegranate sorbet. What a shame they didn’t have the sunshine to go with it, for the full holiday vibe! Some stunning things to do for Father’s Day though and plenty to keep them happy in the garden, for tomorrow’s promised sun.

A little thank you message from the 30 scouts and 6 scout leaders we hosted and catered for, for their end of year jamboree. Suited and booted, they were a wonderful bunch of kids who behaved impeccably. If there was a badge for civilised table manners and tidying up skills, they would all have been awarded it! Dinner and activities .

Thanks for the mention. A little welcome gift for guests including our absolute favourite, fougasse, from , fresh milk from and butter from . The Forest of Dean has so much amazing artisan food, drink, traditions, craft, sporting activities and holistic therapies being created and practised against a backdrop of ancient woodland. A truly wonderful place to visit and live. Especially in this sunshine. Happy days!

And then this happened! No weather warnings. Woke up to this at Mill End Mitcheldean and it's still falling. We might have to take a 'snow' check on the OPEN DAY. I will post in a couple of hours and see if it is sticking and when I have had a chance to check the roads. (All the more lemon drizzle cake for me then). Any snow in Bristol?

Mad Hatter's Tea Party - Mill End Mitcheldean. Catering by Bo****lo Banquets. The best thing about it? They cleared up after themselves and left the house immaculate! The birthday boy was Alice - obviously.

We have 3 weekends free in April for some reason. Offering them at £2,500.00 for up to 25 guests over 10 bedrooms - plus leisure /spa extras.

Mad Hatters Table for 20 guests . Fabulous for too. Such fun to set up. We have another for 34 guests in two weeks time. A 40th birthday celebration. So proud of my staff and our young trainees for doing this. The guests were thrilled which is the main thing!

Antipasti/mezze/deli starters served a different way - as part of a . The guests loved it! The usual three course dinner was given a different twist. Mains were Bouef Bourgignon, Chicken w Tarragon or Morrocan Falafels. And the bitter orange dark chocolate mousses had coconut macaroons and sugared mice on top. Served in royal Doulton gold lustre tea pots. So pretty. Free from Rose and Pomegranate sorbet for vegans.

OPEN DAY. A date for your diaries - we are holding an open day on Saturday 2nd March, 1.00-4.00pm at www.millendmitcheldean.co.uk. An hour's drive from Bristol. Fifteen minutes from the gorgeous Ross on Wye. Take a day out of Bristol. Have lunch and a mooch by the river in Ross. Or have a hike in the stunning Forestry England woodland all around Mill End.

The big house sleeps up to 34. Zoff's small cottage next door, sleeps 6, has a hot tub and an outdoor wood fired sauna cabin and can be hired on it's own for a walking/spa weekend for a family or small group of friends or hired in conjunction with the big house. Or you can use the space mid week for meetings or away days, paying only for lunch and refreshments from Bo****lo Banquets.

On the day we will be giving out a discount code which can be used for the big house, the small cottage or catering, for new bookings for the rest of 2024.

A wee request. I am wondering if any friends or creative colleagues have stayed at or visited Mill End who might be happy to leave a review? We had a vile family stay over Christmas who raised no concerns nor made complaints re Mill End during the stay, told cleaners as they left they'd had a great time and it was a fab house but had vomitted so badly in one bedroom we were unable to use it for incoming NYE guests. We retained £150.00 of their damages bond to go towards trying to remove the smell with 6 days on and off of carpet shampooing, removing sink waste traps, shake n vacing, burning odour eater candles etc and so 4 of their group saw fit to leave 1* google really reviews absolutely slating the house. 88% of our other reviews till this point were 5*.

Bo****lo Banquets - catering for guests and . The dining room can seat 40, and is fabulous for festive corporate meetings with a dinner at the end of the day, for early Christmas get togethers, or to save money (all the more for gifts, food and drink, and donating to charity). Stay between Christmas and New Year or visit us in early January.

A little snack table for a group of corporates staying for one night. A whistle stop stay arriving after an entire day outdoor activity prior to making pizza for their own dinner, using our outdoor pizza oven. The snacks were to keep them going while they mingled and cooked. Then an early doors artisan breakfast w scotch pancakes, crispy bacon and maple syrup before they shot off for another activity at 9.00am the next morning.

Catering and creating for at another large holiday house in Gloucestershire. Slightly scary as we thought we were well prepared, but rocked up to fine a vertical side oven w only 2 shelves and no trays which fitted. And a bevvy of drunken wasps who were sending themselves sugar crazy in the fig tree just outside the back door. Note to self - just stick with catering in the ridiculously well equipped kitchens . Despite this, biscuits were baked to go with a buffet, cocktails were served and pizzas and pasta were made. Lots of hilarious reminiscing between the girls whilst cooking.

A vegetarian & vegan salad lunch, served daily (a variation on a theme anyway) to a film crew who stayed for a week in early 2023. Bo****lo Banquets did different two course meals every evening, and the lunches, which had to be such that they wouldn’t spoil if filming overran, involved home made breads from and included soups and salads every day. The soups were enjoyed so much that staff had to rustle up more there and then.

Black rice grissini, french saussicon, artichoke heart in tarragon, baked camembert w forest honey and rosemary from the garden - served on boards made from Forest of Dean indigenous timber.

Another party. Another birthday gathering - this an 80th birthday for all the kids and grandkids. We had a wonderful review from them, saying what memory making moments were created both enjoying the slow cooked suppers on the evening and greeting family members as they arrived. And sitting round the tables, 40 strong, for the Mediterranean table styling and graze table.

Asparagus, potato and red pepper tortilla as part of an absolutely cracking graze table, created for vegetarians, on a hen party weekend w hosted by . Graze tables, 3 course dinner, continental breakfasts served in wicker baskets and a vegetarian Full English on morning of departure. And the obligatory Buttler in the Buff of course….

The very wonderful Harriet, who has worked for and part time and is now with too, created this stunning focaccia using wild garlic, olives and red peppers. Her creative skills will be missed by many in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, when she heads off to uni. Cracking job Harriet!

Graze tables to welcome 31 guests celebrating a 50th birthday at Mill End. Mitcheldean. The guests couldn’t decide whether to have warm or cold food for their guests, many of whom were travelling from London after a day’s work in TV. So we split the offering and they had slow cooked tagines with local Forest of Dean lamb, and a vegan tagine, with jewelled couscous - king sized couscous w pine nuts, coriander, rose petals and pomegranite. Tonight they have a seated and served three course dinner, after children have been served a high tea first.

I am always proud of my Bo****lo Banquets staff. They are so friendly and versatile. They work predominantly for guests and but they also cook for gatherings and hen parties at other large holiday houses in and around the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire. Here one of my staff entertains an owl, pre dinner, while the other member of staff brought in extra logs to keep the open fire going prior to a 4 course, seated and served dinner.

Bo****lo Banquets recently cooked for a film crew who stayed at whilst filming at the property and in the surrounding area. The food offering had to cover many specific dietary requirements, food intolerances and free from preferences. Plus lunch and dinner each day had to be flexible with dine times as they never knew exactly when each film session would end.

Bo****lo Banquets offered a flexible menu of graze platters, salads and soups with fabulous pizza, fougasse and focaccia from and slow cooked suppers, paella and risotto in the evenings, followed by home made mousses and sorbets.

A lovely google review followed and lots of kind words via email.

Thanks for all the wonderful groups who have booked to stay Mill End Mitcheldean] and to all the Mill End Hen Parties] who have inspired us to create fabulous themed hen parties from glamorous Charlston dance classes and 1920’s inspired murder mystery to Irish themed weekends with Riverdance dance class and a Formula 1 theme with racing car simulator and chequered race theme BBQ and buffet table.
