Karen has sent us her wedding photo
from last week, with strawflowers, chrysanthemums, euc and dahlias a dried and fresh mix that looked just perfect, with two lovely displays for the church that were transported to the venue after in the same tones.

has made this beautiful ring encasing a loved ones final tribute flowers for a keepsake. is working with Chris on some hat designs atm and she sent this over to us this morning. As part of National Allotments Week, we’re exploring the No Dig method 🌱

What is the No Dig method?

The No Dig method is a way of growing crops and creating a bed without the need for double or single digging the soil. A layer of cardboard topped with a thick layer of mulch is used to suppress the weeds and mark out the new growing area. Crops can be grown in the top layer of compost, while the weeds wither away underneath the cardboard, allowing organisms in the soil to break down the matter, doing all the hard work for you!

What are the benefits of No Dig?

- It promotes mutually beneficial relationships between fungi, worms and plants
- It reduces disturbance to the delicate soil ecosystem
- It has been shown to produce bigger harvests
- It’s quicker as there’s less weeding when starting off a bed
- It’s less physically demanding than digging
- It requires less watering as the covered soil better retains moisture

We would love to take this opportunity to thank you all for joining us this week, we hope you enjoyed a little insight into our little flower farm. We were acquaintances before we found beautiful flowers and now as friends we loved to share everything with you.
We thought we would share some fun facts about ourselves to finish.

So starting with Hannah G.
🌱 My guilty pleasure is ready salted crisps with dairy milk chocolate dipped in.
🌱My favourite flowers are sweet peas,
🌱One of my arms is shorter than the other.
🌱And my goal for next season is to get better at succession sowing.

And last but not least Hannah B
🌱 I have massive curly hair that makes me look like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards most days.
🌱I have many strings to my bow, t
🌱I used to work with horses in both showjumping and racing and rode in point to points, I now work dressing eventing
Fences and am currently in France 🇫🇷 at the Europeans.
🌱 I am a milliner and an interior designer and I have a wholesale flower farm with another friend all jobs that work well with flower farming.
🌱My uncle was the drummer for the Wurzels for 44 years.
🌱My goal for next year is remembering to write labels properly when I sow seedlings so I don’t have a let’s see what grows here area. 😂😂

We’ve worked incredibly hard this year to grow all our own flowers from seed. This weekend we felt triumphant as we were able to use all our own flowers and foliage for not one but two weddings 🌸 the only flowers not grown by Common Wood Flowers were 4 sunflowers and a few larkspur supplied by Haze 🙌🏻
