Another day another dollar! No child cruelty here I promise and she has now been whisked off to Thornton Le Dale with Grandma and Grandad. To keep us running in the Summer the odd few hours at the shop for Miss B is inevitable but she is actually quite a good helper these days. She likes to tell me she’s been in the trade almost 10 years!!!

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content! I spent yesterday at Kirkham Henry Showcase 2024 and had a great time. My not so little Blossom had the best weekend with her friends and got a trophy for Junior Musicality which was the icing on the cake. Thank you to all involved and to our dance friends and dance mums for a lovely weekend

I know we are all about the fresh flowers but check out these beautiful faux flowers! Every now and then I can’t resist and I keep seeing these on reels at ridiculously high prices from online retailers so thought I’d give them a whirl at a very reasonable price of £12.50 a bunch!!!

The weather outside is frightful!!! But the Sweet Peas are delightful and still arriving pretty much daily. We have loads of locally grown flowers in the shop today. We can’t display them outside due to the rain but if you’re passing be sure to take a look! We also have a range of little bud vases for just £3.50 each that they look fab in!

Just in today. Schefflera Nora. These have gorgeous twisted stems and stand at over 80cm tall. They really the perfect statement houseplant!

Wise words from a fellow florist so worth a share!

Would you buy cheese and store it in the conservatory?! 🧀
Would you buy fish and pop it in the greenhouse?! 🐟

PLEASE don't place fresh flowers on a sunny windowsill... I know it SEEMS like an obvious place to put them to be enjoyed... But you're shortening their lifespan considerably by doing that.

If they can be kept in a cooler space, with less direct light, they will keep way, way longer.

I've conducted many experiments, and it's quite astounding how much better they fare in a cool hallway or a North facing room.

It’s tomorrow. I have cleaned the windows and popped up the bunting. Tomorrow we will announce the winner of the online competition Peony bouquets and when we close at 4pm Miss Blossom will pick a winner for the and Bouquet so please enter this one tomorrow if you are in town as that is our in store only offer! We are packed full of flowers, locally grown flowers and plants for the home and garden, vases and plant pots galore too. So help us celebrate National Florist Day!

Peony season is about to end! It’s always over too quickly for my liking. The victorians used the language of flowers for special occasions. The Peony was known to symbolise love, happiness, honour and prosperity. As it’s National Florist Week this week we thought we would make someone happy by giving away some peony. One lucky person will be picked at random to win a bunch for themselves and a bunch for a friend. Winners must be local.

I’m a Flower Magician. I joined the family business and followed in my Mummy’s footsteps by becoming a florist straight from school! I was Saturday girl while doing my GCSE’s and then went on to Askham Bryan College. By 18 I had my own shop in Malton and I’ve never looked back! I absolutely love my job and I think I enjoy it even more today than ever. From weddings to funerals I just love making someone’s day through the art of flowers. 29 years down and hopefully many more to go!
