BBC Radio 3's Petroc Trelawny is joined by two BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Audience Prize winners - Claire Barnett-Jones Mezzo Soprano and Ben Johnson - and pianist Tom Primrose, in an evening celebrating the intricate and beautiful relationship between words and music.

Northern Chords Festival launches its mentorship scheme
Applications now open until February 21st!
Northern Chords, of which Jonathan Bloxham is Artistic Director & Founder, have announced their first Mentoring Scheme for 2022.
Taking place over 3 months, four lucky musicians will get the opportunity to work with one of the Northern Chords mentors, including pianist Martin James Bartlett, and will perform at the 2022 Festival.

We are very sad to hear the news that Ester Mägi has passed away. It was a privilege to give the UK premiere of her vividly beautiful piece The Sea last weekend with Northern Chords Festival Orchestra as part of the Europe Day Concert.

Northern Chords Artistic Director Jonathan Bloxham will conduct an exciting programme on the theme of ‘Journeys’, both earth-bound and spiritual, featuring works by Sibelius, Verdi, Dvořák and Meyerbeer among many others, as well as the UK premiere of 99-year-old Estonian composer Ester Mägi’s: "The Sea".
