This fine village hall is in the heart of Mawgan Porth, just off the coast road between Padstow and Newquay. There is a large car park available with wheelchair access to the hall. The building is ideal for every occasion large or small, with a main hall, two smaller committee rooms and a fitted kitchen with a hatch into the main hall; it is a flexible space for a yoga class, children's party, a w

edding reception, a small discussion room or a large village event. Stunning sea views provide a background for photos, just a short walk away, on the family beach. There is a traditional wooden dance floor in the main hall which is licensed for 120 seated and 190 standing. The stage has some provision for the attachment of lighting and sound systems. The building is licensed for both live and recorded musical performances, films and plays. Ample tables and chairs are available for small club meetings or larger table
top, fund-raising sales. Mawgan Porth Village Hall is easy to find but out of the hustle and bustle of town.

Important update Mawgan Porth Hall is currently closed due to flood damage

On the evening of Monday the 25th March the river Menalhyl was overwhelmed by heavy rainfall and flooded several buildings and businesses in Mawgan Porth including Mawgan Porth Village Hall.
Our sympathies are with those others affected and our thanks are with all those who came to our aid. We have been inundated with help, offers of help and kind messages of support. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped today, we are blown away by the community spirt.
We are already consulting with professional assessors for advice, but for now we would like to apologise for the inconvenience this will cause users of the Hall and will post updates as they become available.

Next week my 2024 tour of ‘The Non-Psychic ‘Psychic’ Show’ starts with five dates in Cornwall:

Wednesday 17th January - Mawgan Porth Village Hall, Newquay

Thursday 18th January - Fraddon Village Hall, Cornwall, Saint Columb

Friday 19th January - Trewidland Village Hall

Saturday 20th January - Maker with Rame Community Hall

Sunday 21st January - The Acorn, Penzance

There are still tickets left for all of the performances at the time of posting, although some are very close to a sell out!

‘Psychic’ performances are everywhere these days – with people who claim the ability to communicate with the dead performing in everywhere from theatres, to home visits, and on television.

What however for those who are interested in the idea of these ‘psychic’ shows, but are sceptics? or would like to see how much ‘psychic’ phenomena can easily be faked?

That is why magician, escapologist and comedy performer Greg Chapman created his ‘The Non-Psychic ‘Psychic’ Show’ and he is very excited to come to Cornwall with the show.

Using the full range of magic, escapology, mentalism and other performance skills, Greg takes the audience through a ninety-minute exploration of fraudulent mediums, from the Victorian Seances to some techniques used by a number of modern ‘psychics’, but all clearly presented as trickery – and without any attempt or illusion of talking to people’s “dead relatives”.

This show is fun and thought-provoking. Although the show takes no stand on whether it is actually possible to communicate with the dead.

The show focus on some of the ways that the appearance of such communications can be made through trickery, in a way that is entertaining, interesting, and at times downright funny!
