Lewtrenchard Manor Hotel is located near the town of Lewdown in Okehampton. The hotel is situated near the picturesque national park of Dartmoor which provides our guests with some of the best views and walking routes in England.

As a hotel, we are a proud member of the Pride of Britain Hotels group, which focuses on great hospitality and excellent housekeeping. In addition to being a member of this group,our hotel has won a string of awards for our hospitality and grounds.

We are proud to be a dog-friendlyhotel as we believe that nobody should be left behind, especially when you’re surrounded by such incredible scenery and amazing walks.

Our hotel is a well-known wedding venue in the area and has been featured on many wedding blogs and in wedding publications, in addition to this our restaurant is not only popular with our guests but also with people in the local area and further afield.

Lewtrenchard Manor is a family run hotel in the heart of Okehampton. The house and grounds were first owned by the Murray family in 1988 which they ran as a successful hotel as well as their family home.

The Manor is now back in the safe hands of the Murray family after a short 9 year break from owning the hotel. Lewtrenchard Manor continues to inspire and impress its guests to this very day.

The property was first owned by the Trenchard family during the reign of Henry III; it was later owned by the Monks of Potheridge who later fell into financial troubles.

The Gould family was the next to own Lewtrenchard Manor which became home to many generations of the colourful characters of the Gould family. You can still see the portraits of many of the members of this family in the hotel today.

It wasn’t until 1949 that the Manor was opened as a hotel by the Paynter family, it was run successfully by this family until 1988 when it came to be in the Murray’s possession.

The Manor has an extended history and many stories to tell, it has been run as a hotel for many years now and the care and attention that the Murrays first brought to the hotel in 1988, remains with the next generation of the family.
