LOVE PARTIES? 🥳
HATE WASTE? 🗑👎

Parties should be fun, colourful and for making happy memories.

Parties should not be about the waste leftover at the end. Waste which is often difficult to recycle and will take years and years to breakdown in landfill.

Make memories, without leaving a waste legacy.

Hire your local party kit for your next party.

💚JOIN THE REUSE REVOLUTION 💚

Isn’t it just crazy how much energy, resource and effort goes into making a paper plate just to throw it away after a single party?

We are passionate about making waste-reducing options accessible to more people.

We think parties can be done differently. ♻️🥳

This is an eye opening comparison! 👀

Edit: for a new perspective glance at the comments below...

I tell people this all the time because it isn’t fair that companies are using the word biodegradable to appear to be better!!! It does NOT always return to nature! (This explains far better than I do!) 😂

Don’t be greenwashed by claims that an item is better because it has the word BIODEGRADABLE on it! You’ll be charged more for it and in some cases it can be worse than the original! In some cases they may be correct and it compost which is fab.

Please please please share this to the ends of the earth to prevent companies making money unethically by using this word incorrectly.

I for one refuse to stock anything when a supplier says it’s biodegradable because without personally testing it, I don’t know if they actually mean it will return to soil or not - for me it has to be home compostable.

The word ‘eco’ sends me mad too! Most simply use the word as part of the name of something then it doesn’t have to mean anything!!!

Imagine if everything that wasn’t genuinely sustainable was marked as ‘unsustainable’; if everything filled with chemicals was labelled as such instead of using the word ‘natural’ - which often happens; if everything that was single use had ‘bad for the planet’ written all over it!

Words control us and are used against us!

Dermatologically tested only has to mean it has touched one persons skin and not caused a reaction.

Natural can mean (as it does in much vanilla flavouring and scents) that is is from wombat secretions and not from a vanilla pod.

Clinically tested means it’s been put under a microscope - nothing more.

Please be informed and inform others!

A friendly request to all the eco warriors out there... 💚

As you may be aware, we are a brand new business and are really trying to get our name out there.

We set up our party kits not to make our fortune but to make it a little easier for people to reduce the waste sent to land fill.

We would really really appreciate it if you could:

This is my new favourite quotation...

BE THE CHANGE 💚

Many have asked why I give up my free time to run the Party Kit Network. It’s not my job, the network itself currently has no income, but I do it because I’m passionate about the change it can affect by making a reusable option available to more people. ♻️

Today is my mum’s birthday 🥳
She raised me to be conscious of waste long before it was a hashtag. (Our kitchen was always an obstacle course of recycling bins!)

Today is also the 25th anniversary of the death of my dad; in a few years time I will be older than him. We have been gifted time and we should use it wisely, now more than ever.

While hiring a party kit alone won’t save the planet, together our network can help keep over 750,000 single-use items out of landfill every year - and we are just getting started.

♻️ Are paper plates an eco-friendly option? ♻️
Unfortunately the answer is usually not. Specifically for us in Pembrokeshire, the kerbside recycling scheme doesn’t accept soiled paper or cardboard. 🚫👎

P.S. Don't forget to mention us to anyone you know throwing a party soon! Thank you. ☺️

DID YOU KNOW? In general, paper plates are NOTrecyclable, although there are a few exceptions to this rule. If the plate is used, it is definitely not recyclable, as food grease and crumbs cannot be separated from the paper in therecycling process.

What a year! Farewell 2019, hello 2020.
Happy (sustainable-ish) new year, everyone! 💚

Here’s a round up of our 2019! Thank you for joining us. We can’t wait to see what 2020 will bring. Happy New Year ♻️💚🥳

29/12/2019

I think it’s fair to say that the main reason for the popularity of single-use party supplies is the convenience of being able to shove them in a bin bag and forget about them. As a parent myself, I totally understand that need for a quick post-party tidy up!

The awesome thing about our Party Kits, apart from not sending lots of single-use items to landfill, is that all the used tableware can be shoved back in the box and
🙌 WE DO THE WASHING UP FOR NO EXTRA COST! 🙌

We’re taking bookings for 2020 now, and for the next 3 days only you can have 20% off your hire cost. 💚

Preach 🙌🏻

BE THE CHANGE... 🤩

Many of the party kits in our network are hired for use at kids’ parties; kids who will inherit a very different world to us.

One of the reasons we run this network is to make zero waste options accessible to more people. 👍

We passionately believe that we need to be better informed about what happens to our waste and the impact we have on our planet.

Last month network founder, Isabel Mack, went to talk to children at Downton CE Primary School.

Meeting with the school’s Eco Council we talked about what happens to waste once it goes in the bin and how we can make changes to reduce waste.

And in a Year 2 class we talked about where plastic pollution comes from, its impact once in the environment and what changes we can make to use less plastic.

We believe that everyone can make meaningful changes with the right information.

We believe that parties shouldn’t cost the Earth. 💚

23/12/2019

Ain’t no party like a zero waste party! 🎉

LOVE TO PARTY? 🥳

We do too! And we can’t wait to help you reduce waste at your next party.

3 days to go! Here’s a run down of what can be recycled at the kerbside this Christmas in Pembrokeshire. We can also put out one extra grey bag per household. Plus don’t forget to check the PCC website for changes to collection dates.

Christmas is a truly wonderful time of year but while enjoying the festivities please also remember to recycle, below is a list of what can be recycled in each of the kerbside sort containers.

Blue Reusable Sack – Cardboard & Card including delivery boxes and brown packaging paper and Christmas cards without glitter, foil embossing or any other embossing on them (no bows, ribbons etc).

Blue Box – Paper including newspapers and magazines, leaflets, envelopes and paper based wrapping paper (glitter or foil based paper is not recyclable and should be placed in your grey residual bags).

Red Reusable Sack – Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays (excluding black and brown plastic pots, tubs and trays), food and beverage cartons and metal packaging including cans, tins, empty aerosols, foil and foil trays. Your plastic sweet/ chocolate tubs and metal biscuit tins are also recyclable through the red bag.

Green Caddy – Food Waste – including peelings, turkey carcasses and any Christmas left overs. But why not turn any leftover food into a wonderful dish, like a curry or pie.

Green Box – Glass Bottles and Jars – including wine, beer and spirit bottles, sauce jars and non food bottles such as empty perfume bottles.

Household-provided clear bag – Household Batteries

WE 💚 REUSABLES 🥳

In a single day our network of reusable party kits could save OVER 14,000 single-use items from landfill.

We think that’s pretty cool 😎

19/12/2019

I know our brains are all preoccupied with Christmas preparations BUT.... I wanted to remind you to take advantage of our introductory offer, which ends in under 2 weeks! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

16/12/2019

Prepare to be 🤯😵 wowed folks!

Here’s the price comparison, as promised last night. You can’t deny there’s a huge difference!

Our standard Party Kit provides plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, napkins and straws for 30 guests PLUS 2 drinks jugs, 4 serving trays and 3 tablecloths for ONLY £8. That’s less than half of the cost of budget party supplies for the same number of guests from our local superstores.

💚 And that’s not to mention the warm, fuzzy feeling you get from knowing you’re making a positive impact on the environment when you hire reusable rather than buying single-use! 💚

We’re great for the planet and your pocket! 🌍

‼️ P.S. Don’t forget about our offer - 20% of all 2020 bookings made before 31st December ‼️

15/12/2019

Wow, what a glowing review of Leicester Eco Party Packages!

It’s definitely true. Most people don’t realise how much more it costs to buy even the basic, plain white disposable party supplies from a supermarket!

Tomorrow I’ll be posting a price comparison to show you exactly how our kit compares to the supermarkets around Pembroke. Watch this space! 👀

“GREAT VALUE”💰👍

Many people are surprised that hiring a reusable party kit is often CHEAPER than buying the equivalent as disposables.

Better for the environment and better for your pocket.

All I want for Christmas is...... 🎶

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS LESS CO2*

Not yet finished your Christmas shopping? Why not buy the ultimate eco-friendly Christmas present this year?

One way to tackle the rising levels of carbon dioxide is to plant more trees and you can gift both your loved one and the planet this Christmas by buying a tree.

We don’t all have space to plant more trees, so there are organisations who will plant and care for new trees on your behalf. 🌳

Here are some suggestions from Rowena (Green and Mean UK) who runs a party kit near Southampton.

🎄Trees for Life
For £8.99 they will plant a new tree to help rewild the Scottish Highlands.

🎄Make It Wild
You can gift a package for £21 which will offset 5 tonnes of carbon dioxide by planting trees in the UK.

🎄Woodland Trust
Gift a tree dedication, or even quarter an acre of woodland, to help protect British trees. They aim to plant 64 million new trees over the next 10 years.

*If I’m honest, I’d also quite like a plastic-free, cruelty-free, non-greasy, UK-made, affordable facial moisturiser.

Party Kit Network UK

This week’s featured reusable party kit is Eco Party Box - Saltaire based in the Shipley area, near Bradford 🧁♻️🥳

Run by new mum Robyn, her aim is help parties look great without spending lots of money or generating loads of waste. Her kits are available in both fab rainbow and pastel colours 😊

Emily recently hired the kit... “All the convenience of disposals but better quality and without the waste - you can't go wrong! Thank you so much Robyn, I was delighted with the service and would definitely use again.” 👍

Here are some photographs of the Party Kit from our debut event, my own daughter’s birthday party this afternoon.

I’ve been very selective when gathering the equipment for the party kits - choosing colours and patterns appealing to girls and boys, ensuring everything is safe for children, durable to last through as many uses as possible, and finally that everything can be either recycled or upcycled once it can no longer be used.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below ⬇️ especially if you think I’ve missed anything. Thanks. ☺️

This is a genius idea!

“Bundlee is the UK’s first baby clothing rental service. Babies outgrow 7 clothing sizes in their first 2 years, leading to a lot of clothing waste. Bundlee was started to help new parents be more sustainable and save space and money, by renting their baby’s wardrobe. Every bundlee rented saves clothes from potentially ending up in landfill, alongside saving 40,000 litres of water and 100kg of CO2!”

The Party Kit Network has been featured on Bundlee’s blog!

Bundlee founder Eve was an early supporter of the Party Kit Network mission to reduce waste and we just love how bundlee shares our passion for renting rather than buying.

♻️ GREEN FRIDAY ♻️

Yikes! The hype over Black Friday seems to grow every year. As we are bombarded with special offers and promos for Black Friday, some useful questions to ask ourselves are:

💚 Can I use or repair what I already have?

💚 Can I borrow it from a friend?

💚 Can I buy it preloved?

💚 Do I really love it or need it new?

Happy Green Friday! 🌳

Pembrokeshire Care, Share & Give

We’re all for helping to reduce the rubbish people generate by encouraging the choice of reusables over disposables.

HOWEVER.....

Unfortunately this isn’t a perfect world - in reality it’s so difficult to avoid all single-use items, especially food packaging.

All of the types of packaging in this video, which would ordinarily go in our grey bags, can be recycled with Pembrokeshire Care, Share & Give. They have red wheeliebins at the entrance of Morrison’s and Tesco in Haverfordwest, and a few other places too. Just pop the different sorts of packaging into bread bags and drop into one of their bins. They receive donations for all their recycling which all goes to local charities.

26/11/2019

I love this idea. I’m going to see what adaptation I can come up with for my eldest daughter’s upcoming birthday party.

Have you ever considered second hand party favours?🤔
Charity shops are full of good books, some never opened before!
You can set up a mini book stall at the end of the party, and your guests can pick one (or more) to take home.
We have tried it and it is amazing to see how the children enjoy the freedom to choose their own gift.

What else could be a great second hand choice for a party favour?? Any ideas?

25/11/2019

We’re on the map! 🌏

Did you know that there is a national Party Kit Network of businesses that you can hire reusable party ware from?

Well, I’m proud to announce that we are the newest member of the Party Kit Network! Pembroke Party Kit has been added to their map showing all the kits around the UK, and we’re the first in West Wales. 🙌🏻

If you’re not local to Pembrokeshire - please take a look at their website or page to find a party kit near you, and help to reduce the volume of disposables in landfill.
