Shopping online is not cheaper in the long run! I keep saying this, we need to understand the knock on effect of online shopping! You should understand that I make 100% of my income from online shopping, so this is not something I am saying to suit my own agenda!

Shopping online is bad for the local economy for SEVERAL reasons. One of the main reasons is that when consumers shop online, they are more likely to buy from large national or international retailers rather than local businesses. This means that money spent on online purchases is not circulating within the local community, but instead going to big corporations. Local businesses are the backbone of the economy, creating jobs and contributing to the overall economic growth of the community. When consumers choose to shop online instead of at local stores, they are essentially depriving their own community of much-needed cash. Shopping online can result in the closure of local businesses, leading to a loss of jobs and a decline in the vibrancy of the community.

If you want to look a little deeper, shopping online has a negative environmental impact. The transportation of goods from warehouses to consumers' homes contributes to pollution and carbon emissions. When consumers choose to shop online, they are increasing the demand for delivery services, which in turn leads to more traffic congestion and air pollution. By supporting local businesses, consumers can reduce their carbon footprint and support sustainability efforts in their community.

The biggest reason why shopping online is bad for the local economy, is that it leads to a decrease in tax revenue. Local businesses generate tax revenue that funds essential services such as schools, public safety, and infrastructure. When consumers shop online, they may not be required to pay tax. This can result in a loss of revenue for the local area, ultimately impacting the quality of services provided to the community.

I get that online shopping offers convenience and a wider selection of product choice, but it is important to consider the negative impact it can have on the local economy. Shopping online may be convenient, but in the long run, it is less money in your pocket.
