So... It has been a tough couple of years running the Rustic Stomp. We had the "bounce back" from COVID, then a beautiful Weekender and then last year we got smashed by that storm in July. But we kept on going, the show ran, thems that joined us had a whale of a time. So we sit here on the cusp of the festival season and it is not getting easier. But hey, the Stomp must continue. People wanna party right..? People want to hear new and exciting music? People want to meet up with their festival pals and make new pals right? So at the Rustic Stomp we look forward with our Stompin' boots on, our chins out and our spirits high. So much so that we've done some shizzle in the break. We've flushers and a barn. ‘People from all walks of life go to the fair seeking something to transport them from the everyday’
Inspired by the songs and tales of The Wanderbird at last year’s Rustic Stomp, this year’s Sunday fancy dress them is “Carny”. Carny is an informal term used in North America for people who work the traveling carnival, and the language they use, particularly when they run a game ("joint"), food stand ("grab", "popper" or "floss wagon"), or ride ("ride jock") at a carnival. Carny is thought to have become popularized around 1931 in North America, when it was first used to describe the people who work the carnival.
Carny fancy dress can cover carnival, fairground, circus and the like, all with an americana twist – have fun with it. There’s even a 2014 film starring Jody Foster where you can grab a bit of inspiration.

The Rustic Stomp Festival runs from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th July, it is Dorset’s finest Roots Festival and is bringing together a plethora of local, national and international artists to give you the finest bluegrass, hoedown, blues, swamp stomp, country-based festival, with tractors, that money can buy. Three days of music and merriment are all wrapped within the Rustic aesthetic. This year’s Rustic Stomp will also include historic vehicles and a Well Bean hub within the festival arena.
