BUTE MANOUCHE PUT ON HOLD

Bute Manouche, the Bute jazz festival which celebrates the work of Django Reinhardt, has been put on hold for 2024 but it will be back with a bang in 2025.

Tim Saul, chairman of Bute Jazz Concerts commented: Since we started this popular event in 2019 other festivals featuring similar genres of music have arrived on the scene."

He continued: "Compared with venues in England the Isle of Bute is a relatively remote location and we feel it is a long way for even the most ardent Reinhardt enthusiast to travel on an annual basis.

"We plan to be back in October 2025 with the fourth Bute Manouche which will feature a variety of bands and soloists which will do justice to Django's great legacy."

In the mean time Bute Jazz Concerts is aiming to promote a small number of Sunday afternoon concerts which will keep jazz music alive on the west coast of Scotland.

Isle of Bute ... Isle of Jazz - Our Story

JAZZ ON BUTE

The Isle of Bute Jazz Festival started in 1988 as a Traditional Jazz Festival and offers visitors the beauty of the island location with a mix of Jazz and Blues music. Due to the refurbishment of Rothesay Pavilion, which has been our main venue, the annual May Festival is taking a break. We are running a new event in October, Bute Manouche, which celebrates the music of Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. In addition, a series of individual concerts is being programmed, so keep an eye on our page for news of forthcoming events.

The Pavilion should be re-opening in early 2020 and jazz will form part of the artistic offerings in the newly refurbished building.
