At the end of this path is a small arbour for sitting a while in a shady corner. Well, maybe not today on such a rainy day. When the garden is open on Sunday, 14th July, there will be plenty of opportunities to sit and relax on seats in all parts of the garden.

I'm looking forward to the heatwave this week (well, almost a heatwaveπŸ˜†). We had our first Swallow return to the barn yesterday, which was very exciting. Although, a concern too, because less return these days and they arrive much later, which must impact the number of broods they can rear.

I am hoping we've turned a corner with all the rain. Despite the frost, wind and recent rain, the tulips are doing quite well, although I don't have as many pots of them this year, because the mice have been helping themselves to them this winter. πŸ˜•

What a difference slightly warmer weather and a little sunshine makes. A lovely walk with friends this morning, but very hard too, because I miss Tessa more than words can say πŸ’”. Then an afternoon spent potting up dahlias - around a hundred so far. The photos don't look much, but they promise gorgeous flowers to come.

At last! Workshops are on the website - to book, please go to www.yorkshiredalesflowers.co.uk. No previous experience is required, and everything is provided to make your arrangement. We always have fun whilst making beautiful creations in a lovely studio setting. Often, the peacocks look through the window to see what we are doing! If the weather is kind, we will have a wander around the gardens. And of course, tea and cake.

It's so good to spend time in the garden and not get wet! It seems it hasn't stopped raining since last summer. I'm moving plants around the garden, including clumps of snowdrops. It's nice to make kokedama with some of the snowdrop clumps and then replant them once they have finished flowering. Simply wrap a clump in moss, then bind with twine. They can be hung from trees or sit on a table and add some interest at this time of the year. Small pots of bulbs also work well.

I am sorry I have been so quiet on here of late, but with reason. Before Christmas we had such sad times when we lost a member of the family. Then, in January, Tessa lost her brave battle with cancer and very shortly after, Moss, our Son, Andrew's elderly Labrador, died. Moss had been living with us and I know he gave up when Tessa died. They are reunited, buried next to each other where they both loved to explore.

So, I am very sorry for the delay, but, workshops and garden events will be on the Website shortly and I will keep you posted with garden happenings.

Still lots of lovely colour, helped by the warm weather. I'm cutting down the tomatoes and harvesting pumpkins and gourds over the next couple of days, before the colder weather comes later in the week. Just a reminder, some places still available on the Christmas wreath workshops - see website www.yorkshiredalesflowers.co.uk

Mr P. is looking a little sad, having lost all his tail feathers. An annual event, he will once again look resplendent next spring with new tail feathers, ready for the breeding season. We always collect his tail feathers as they look beautiful in Christmas wreaths. By the way, Christmas wreath workshops are on the website www.yorkshiredalesflowers.co.uk
