A sense of elegant simplicity is something I always strive to create in weddings; sometimes a traditional palette of white against a backdrop of gorgeous greenery is all a venue needs.

I loved doing something a little bit different here, the wedding breakfast was held in the beautiful vine room in front of that spectacular fireplace meaning that the mantle was the backdrop for speeches and the joyful post-ceremony celebrations.

I’ve been enjoying experimenting with some less-traditional early spring colour palettes lately.

I was won over by the gorgeous depth of colour of the hellebores and the delicacy of the checkered snakes-head fritillaries.

I paired these with some beautiful hand-dyed silk ribbons in ‘Peach Fuzz’ from the incredible Leanna .uk - I absolutely adore the contrast with the deep tones in the flowers and how the bows add an extra level of tactility and texture to the table.

When you read something that could have been written just for you ✨ Recently I made the decision to follow my dream and take floristry into the full-time world, and so yesterday marked my last day at my job in fashion buying.

Since discovering floristry during covid, it has moved from hobby through to passion, and now to lifestyle. Self-employment no doubt has its pros and cons but I am excited to focus my time on what is important to me, and doing things which bring me inspiration, clarity and, above all, fulfilment.

There is a joy in not knowing what the future holds but being open to the opportunity that this brings 🕊

Ready for a close up ✨

I love using many textural elements and fillers in my bridal bouquets, whether it’s to add shape, movement or scent. Before her big day, I asked Sophie which flowers she loves and why to ensure her bouquet was everything she wanted and more. We ended up with lots of variation in flower size, a palette of warm neutrals and lots of beautiful texture.

For Verity’s bouquet we used neutral colour and lots of texture in the form of dried flowers to create a beautifully natural and rustic look which worked in harmony with the barn setting.

All about the details 🤍

Rather than thinking in terms of individual arrangements, I love to focus instead on how pieces will work to create a coherent and magical space. This ceremony piece styled and designed by Ana UK Wedding Planner | Ana] used beautiful drapery, candles and different height plinths. When designing the flowers for this I wanted the eye to be drawn through the space, so using a combination of small floral meadows and bowl arrangements enabled me to create an ethereal feel which looks full of flowers.

This was my second time working on this stunning fireplace, and it was a totally different look with lots of dark winter foliage and a dusky palette of pinks and pale peaches 🍂

Here, big beautiful roses are the focal flower, with structural ruscus for shape and limonium for a whimsical softness. Although all elements are white, the mix of textures ensures there is interest and guides the eye through the bouquet.

I just love the simplicity, elegance and airiness of bud vases 🤍

Grouping just a few stems and displaying together with varying heights and sizes makes for a simply beautiful floral design. They are also hugely versatile; if minimal isn’t your thing, up the quantity and go for abundance. When displayed close together their impact is something very special 💫

Here’s to 2023 ✨

At the start of a new year it’s easy to focus on where you’d like to go in the coming year and forget to reflect on what you’ve achieved in the one just gone.

In 2022 we had events in some beautiful venues which had been on our wedding wish list, worked with some incredible brands and met and built relationships with so many wonderful suppliers.

As we come to the end of 2022, I’m looking back at the beautiful events I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of this year 💫

I have worked with lots of wonderful couples and it’s truly so rewarding to see such happiness as they tie the knot and their dreams become a reality.

And with that I am so excited for the couples I am working with in the coming year. It’s lovely to have a break and reset over the festive period but I’m looking forward to getting back to the flowers very soon with my first wedding of the year 💍

Lots of brides tell me that the moment they are handed the bridal bouquet, when hair & make-up is done and their dress is on, is the moment that it all feels real and they truly feel the anticipation of the day come together.

The handing over of the bouquet is also one of my most special and rewarding moments ✨
