Thanks for all the messages of support and thanks we have received. We're going to try a monthly Friday evening session (7-9pm or thereabouts) at the Ship Isis with our various bands. This will be downstairs in the "lounge" bar - again, free entry with welcome tips for the players! If we can develop a following we'll look to get some guest artists and special guests to make an appearance. First date is: Friday 29th September.

Thanks to those of you who have supported us in trying to get some kind of dedicated Blues gig going in Sunderland; however, despite our best efforts, and the hopes we had for the Strugglin' Blues Club, we can't continue with the audience numbers we've had recently so we have decided to call it a day. We'll still be promoting some events at the Ship Isis over the coming months and we'll keep you informed.

Ok folks! We're now running the Strugglin' Blues Club once a month and changing the format. First Sunday of the month only. We'll now have guest artists every month and we'll aim to bring you the best acoustic blues performers around. We're currently talking to people to get booked up to December and we'll announce artists once they're booked.
In August we have Smith and Moon from York - Dave Smith and Karl Moon of the great band Half Hand Hoodoo bringing you a great mix of Delta, Texas, Mississippi, Ragtime and Chicago Blues. Both are exceptional guitarists and Dave is a great singer too. It's the first time they've played in Sunderland and are worth a catching!
September we have The Hokum Hotshots celebrating almost 50(!) years on the Blues scene. These are just about the best purveyors of pre-war Hokum, Blues and Hawaiian music you will ever see.
On a futher note - if you want to keep the Strugglin' Blues Club going then please get out and support what we're trying to do. If we don't get an audience we're going to pull the plug and another avenue to see proper live music will be gone.

Or we might just start running it as another buskers event.*

*Not a hope in hell.

Ok folks - our next show is Sunday 21st May with the fabulous Dave Speight. Depending on audience numbers it might also be our last gig - so get your arses along if you want to keep the place going!
