I have had a nightmare trying to get the rights to use the logo everyone chose. Had to go back to the drawing board. The very talented Tia Clerkin drew these for me, so I have the rights for them. Hi folks, I hope you can help. I have my first book launch set for 14th September at the Washington Arts Centre Theatre. I'm beyond excited as you will all be invited. I have been working with the two amazing Alexa's from the Writers Refinery. I want as many people as possible to come along and help me celebrate with a huge party and get together of like-minded people.

Obviously, I will be book signing but I have all sorts of things planned such as free goodie bags with each book sold, free bookmarks, cupcakes with a copy of my miniature book on top, a 360 photo station, crisp wall, drink on arrival, canapes, a sweetie table, cheese and crackers table and so on. I am looking for a good singer (No Michael Buble) with an eclectic repertoire to entertain for a few hours male or female as long as they have a good voice. I want people to get up, enjoy themselves and have a dance and laugh. If anyone has any names, numbers and prices that would be amazing. I need to get this booked in, so I can begin to advertise it officially. Thanks in advance. D x

I know over the last few months I have had conversations about the book with so many of you asking how I’m getting on. Your support has been truly outstanding. Today I could burst with pride and I’m sat with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat because I finally have my finished book cover and blurb. I can’t describe how it feels to see my name on my book. I almost didn’t think it was going to happen. It’s true what they say if it was easy everyone would do it and it makes the achievement all the sweeter. Just waiting for the edits next before it can go to print. Everyone knows having an Alexa is a godsend well I have two 😂🤣…. The next stage is being handled by the seriously talented Alexa Tewkesbury and I can’t wait. The Alexa’s are known for creating best selling authors. I will be happy to just settle for just being published.

The insanely talented Alexa Whitten from the Writers Refinery is an absolute legend. This was only the second design. Alexa initially put something together for me but I didn’t love the two main images. The book layout, font and colours were perfect though. We worked collaboratively over Zoom and WhatsApp all day on and off today and absolutely nailed it. I am truly thrilled and she has been amazing to work with. You guys know what a perfectionist I am and not a thing has been a bother to her. Alexa just got me and my vision. I would highly recommend this lady and you need to check out the Writers Refinery and her lives are informative but also a hoot. Thank you Alexa D xx

Well, today in a live session I managed to lead astray one of my favourite ladies the very talented Alexa Whitten of the Writers Refinery fame. I have never seen her so pink and flushed. We had such a laugh and the comments were very interesting. I can't wait to share my new book cover with all of you. This lady is an incredible talent. I just pray my mobile does not break, so I do not have to take it to be repaired otherwise I may have questions to answer regarding my recent search history. I can assure you it was all in the name of research honestly. D x

I am thoroughly enjoying working on my second book. It has been a very cathartic process for me. Who knew I had such a dark side 😈. I read a small section out to my husband and he now feels like he needs to sleep with one eye open 😂 ... Book two is incredibly dark and twisted and I'm loving it! You would never believe I am such a fun-loving, happy, positive woman in my home life.

Honestly, it's been an amazing experience. I would seriously advise anyone thinking about writing to just take the plunge. You could become someone's favourite author. D x

Well today I put a days holiday in so I could work on my book doing the all important re-writes. As you all know I was devastated when my book launch got put back and cried buckets. It was bittersweet as my book should have been launched on Valentine’s Day. With how busy I had been in my new job and the hours I had been working I couldn’t dedicate the time to the re-writing. Today I’m rectifying that. Everything happens for a reason. My family have been so supportive. Sometimes you have to take a step back and evaluate everything with fresh eyes. I feel so excited 😆!!! D x

So excited to share... I have secured my first Independent Book Stockest and Launch Event for my book "The Hearts A Family of Substance". It will be held at Featherbed Books in Houghton le Spring on February 14th from 4-7pm. Everyone welcome. I will be signing each one and anyone purchasing a copy on the night will also receive a FREE pamper bag. There will be themed cupcakes and coffee for all. I will announce more exciting updates and promotional events over the next few weeks, so please watch this space. D x

Exciting news I am dying to share. My first book "The Hearts A Family of Substance" will be published in time for valentines day. I am looking for a quirky venue for a book launch on Saturday 17th February 2024. I need space for canapé's and a singer that can hold between 50-100 people. Any ideas folks? I want to make a fun afternoon of it. I was thinking possibly Barter Books in Alnwick or The Customs House South Shields. What do you think to far away??

Wow!.. I have been in an amazing writing flow today with book 2. It’s a lot darker story line. I was reading excerpts out to my hubby of the content I wrote today and I could hardly get my words out for crying. It will definitely be an emotional read. D x

Today my office was amazing. What a privilege it is to be able to write in such a wonderful location. I only wish you could have smelled all the flowers . The sun on my face and a gentle breeze blowing my hair. Book 📚 two is well underway. People ask me why I write…. Why would I not want to? Thank you to my lovely hubby Neil Caldwell who gave me the space to vanish for a few hours and he even re stained and water sealed my work cabin whilst I was out.

A Family of Substance

After the death of her mother at an early age, she was brought up by her strict military father beautiful, self sufficient Darcey was alone in the world. It was here she met the elusive Mr Heart ex marine and now CEO. Who knew what an embarrassing steamy naked shower encounter could lead to? Caleb Heart is not all he seems, a powerful, charismatic pl***oy and one of three sons. The richest and youngest CEO of Heart Industries he has it all. Darcey’s thoughtfulness wins everyone over and she finds true friendships but she proves she is smart and way more than a pretty face when she solves the riddle of skyrocketing costs at a job site within Heart Industries. Darcey becomes Caleb’s right hand woman for good reason. Someone is sabotaging their projects abroad but why? Who could it be and what do they have to gain? Darcey is like a cat with nine lives and yet more heartache awaits.

It was simply a matter of time before she won the man of her dreams and give herself to him fully to then be torn apart by circumstance. Not only was her ex boss a slime ball he was also a psychopath who held a grudge. Darcey is left with no option but to run. Finding out she is pregnant believing the love of her life callously sent her away after he had his fun. Darcey fights for her own survival and that of her babies. The truth is revealed, it had all been about Drugs, People Trafficking and Guns. Just as things seem to be settling down, the psychopath created an explosive end to Darcy’s story but she ensures he can’t hurt anyone ever again unfortunately she pays the price. Love is never simple or easy but its always worth fighting for…

Well I feel absolutely elated. I put the final words to paper last week to finish my first book 📚. It’s something I have always wanted to do. I have a real sense of achievement. Next comes the arduous task of getting a literary agent, writing submissions etc. it’s really not easy and it takes some people years to get published so fingers crossed 🤞🏻. I’m tenacious if nothing else. I need to say a huge thank you to my amazing friends who have read each and every chapter giving me invaluable feedback and to Neil Caldwell for giving me the space and encouragement to write. D x
