Meet the Team Monday

James is our Funeral Director, he started with Crescent Funeral Services straight from school and has been with us for 6 years.

In this time James has completed his Certificate in Funeral Practice and became the youngest qualified Funeral Director to have passed through the Independent Funeral Directors College

James is a valued member of the Crescent Family and with his natural charm and professionalism makes such a difference to a sad occasion for those he cares for.

Outside of work James enjoys time with his friends and family, travelling to festivals and holidays as well as the more adventurous pursuits such as Hiking up Mountains and Sky Diving.
James has also been instrumental in raising money for charity through the White Collar Boxing fundraisers.

James continues to grow his career experience and regularly attends the events and meetings with Simon and Robert for SAIF independent funeral directors 🌙🎩

Rebecca has had a week away to prepare herself for tomorrow’s even bigger event!

Not only is it her birthday weekend, Bex is also skydiving for Children’s Hospice Southwest tomorrow and we wish her all the luck and good weather for this special weekend. 🌙🎩🍾🪂

The sun came out for a special farewell today at Waterside Country Barn at Mill House

Together with Emma the Celebrant we provided a personalised and fitting day for a much loved gentleman who planned every detail his way.

Remember, you can pretty much hold a ceremony anywhere and make it a very special occasion and one to treasure.

Always ask us about local venues that welcome funerals and Thanksgiving celebrations of life if you want somewhere truly unique to celebrate a unique life.

Meet The Team….. Monday-ish!

Robert, is our Business Manager and the brains of the office!

Robert brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in management and person centred care.

Prior to joining Crescent Funeral Services at its start, Robert had a successful career in Education, firstly in teaching middle years, moving on to specialist subject teaching Science and IT and then in senior management with the Special Educational Needs sector.

Robert became Head Teacher at a school for young people living on the Autistic spectrum, taking his school to outstanding with Ofsted, no easy task.

He was voted an Autism Champion in a National award ceremony, voted for by his pupils.

Robert’s passion has always been science and his university degrees were taken in Pharmacology and Neuroscience.

It was only when Simon was starting to build Crescent Funeral Services that Robert decided to come along and support grow the business with his management skills and left education.

Robert creates all our Order of Service and most importantly manages the business needs day to day, allowing our Funeral Directors time and space to care for those needing our services and will also help with arrangements when required.

Robert firmly believes that the Funeral Profession holds many similarities to his teaching career with families being at the centre of everything we do and like person centred education we have the key interests of the bereaved at the heart of our day to day.

Robert has also taken on a role with our Professional Association SAIF independent funeral directors as a Quality Assurance Inspector, putting those Ofsted skills to good use.

Outside of work, Robert is a keen Beekeper, managing his 5 hives at home and being a member of Somerset Beekeepers' Association
He enjoys travel with Simon, time spent with friends as well as maintaining his passions for IT and his lifelong enjoyment of music, especially Madonna and Classical Music.

We’ve had a wonderful day with our guests at Somerset Afd it’s a great day for the County and Taunton was the centre of the event which is great! Our colleagues, Jason, Shawn and Danny along with all the team did themselves proud. So happy to have once again supported this amazing day for our community. 🌙🎩🇬🇧

Meet The Team Monday

Simon is our Funeral Director and owner/founder of crescent Funeral Services.

Simon joined the funeral profession straight from school when he was just 15 years old.

Working for the Coop Funerals in Taunton for a few years before embarking on the great adventure of living and working in London, learning and absorbing everything the Funeral World had to offer for a few years before returning to the South West.

After much experience Simon took up a community managers role in a funeral home in Bath before moving once more to work in his hometown of Taunton with Nigel Ford.

When Nigel sold the business, it was time to do something for himself and with the help of family and friends, Crescent Funeral Services became a reality.

Since opening Crescent Funeral Services Simon and the team has gone from strength to strength in the somerset community with funeral homes in Taunton, Langport and Curry Rivel.

Simon has also represented and continues to represent independent Funeral Directors nationally working alongside SAIF independent funeral directors as a member of the National Executive Committee and is their Quality Assurance Chairperson.

Together with Robert outside of work ( and there are times when he’s not at work) Simon enjoys travel, meals out with friends, the Theatre and time spent chilling at home with Casper the Cat

This is an inspired idea by the crematorium just outside of Bridgwater. A lovely intimate location that has proven the right choice for many of our families recently.

We are pleased to offer new twilight services for families seeking a peaceful evening farewell for their loved ones. Starting now, you can schedule final services between 6 PM and 8 PM, Monday through Friday. Each service provides up to 40 minutes in our peaceful chapel.

These twilight services are designed to accommodate the needs of our community, providing a serene setting during the evening hours for a meaningful and dignified farewell.

Amazing to have hosted the SAIF independent funeral directors regional meeting for the South West last night at Musgrove Willows Ltd a fantastic number of Funeral Professionals all in one room discussing the topics we face day to day.
