No two couples are the same, therefore weddings should reflect a couples taste in food, decor and music. The challenge I love with a wedding is digging down into those tracks that are not obvious and teasing them out while entertaining their guests. I enjoy spending time before the wedding with the happy couple discussing their tastes in music and ensuring the soundtrack to their wedding reflects them as a couple. Fantastic Wedding, massive thanks to Allix and Jack for trusting me with the music for their big day. They went all in and had music from the guests arriving at the ceremony through drinks reception and dinner and dancing. Stunning venue, the staff at Puldagon Farm were amazing, and Stevie has captured it all beautifully.

Wedding Planning Tip - Always speak to your vendors about your vision, tell them exactly what you want from your wedding day. As you speak to each vendor pay attention to if they are interested in adding to your vision, or trying to talk you down because it is "not possible" not every vendor is right for every couple. Speak to more than one vendor in each category, celebrant, venue, catering, entertainment, photography, flowers. And go with the ones that share your vision. You won't regret it.

When you hire a full day package from a wedding DJ you hire more than someone to play music. From my consultation with the couple before hand I understood that the venue and location was special to them, I studied the weather on the day and ensured I brought a variety of flexible equipment with me. Having had the ceremony outdoors I spoke to the photographer to see if we could pull off the first dance outdoors too. Knowing the logistics would work i proposed the idea to the bride and groom on the day and they were thrilled. It ended up with 90% of the wedding reception taking place outdoors. When you hire a wedding DJ for a full day package you are hiring someone with vision, someone to problem solve, equipment and an entertainer to help make those memories.

Last week i was delighted to DJ Miller Academy's end of year Disco. My strongest surviving memories of my own primary years are the School Disco's. I can remember what songs were playing and who i was dancing with. The DJ's that played those Disos were kind enough to show me the ropes when i was old enough and became mentors and great friends. Shoutout to John (Frantic) Firth, Glen (Shindigs) Campbell, the legend that hired me his gear to do my first paid gig age 15 David (Dynamic Sounds) Sinclair and of course the man who sold his decks to marry my Mum, Andy (Supersonic Turntables) Crawford

I have no standard setup as a DJ, every event has different requirements and I work with the hosts to understand the vision they are trying to create, sometimes its appropriate for the DJ to be centre stage with a wall of lights but other times it calls for subtle atmosphere.

In this photo from Stemster House I have covered my booth in black to visually make it dissapear and have pushed my lights out in line with the speakers, this ensures that the Wedding Decor that the couple have carefully chosen does not get overpowered by a bright white booth and loads of equipment.

This also means the stage remains empty so I can easily work along side a band to provide entertainment post ceremony, during the meal and cover any breaks the band require as a support act.

Also your photographer will appreciate not having so much noise in the back ground reducing the angles they can photograph from and having much less to photoshop out of the background of the 1st dance.

Well Done to Jacqueline and her team Stemster House, fantastic amount of money raised for a great charity.

A total of 120 ladies enjoyed prosecco and afternoon tea at Stemster House before dancing the night away – all in aid of Maggie's cancer care centre.

Last month I was delighted to be trusted with the music for Alice and Stephen’s wedding. I met with the couple before the wedding to get an insight into their music tastes to ensure the wedding reflected them. I curated bespoke playlists for their Ceremony and Drinks Reception and DJ’d their Dinner and Dance creating a different mood to complement each part of the day. It was my first Wedding at Ness Walk in Inverness and the hotel staff were amazing to work with. Definitely a venue I’m looking forward to returning to.

Last Saturday adj events were at the Weigh Inn Hotel to set up our party starter package for a 21st, this consisted of Lighting, Speakers, microphone and a device to play music. They birthday girls created their own playlist which they sent to me to load, this ensured the party was unique to them.

A month ago I had the honour of DJ'ing Sarah and Richards wedding at the beautiful Stemster House. It was a pleasure working with the bride and groom to understand the atmosphere they wanted to create through their music selection and lighting choices.. The weather was fantastic on the day and they created an amazing autumn wedding with a focus on family. Big shout out to North Coast Igloos, Frankie’s North Coast Pizza Norseman Hotel and Tracey Inkson Photography who were all on duty on the day. It was great to work alongside you as part of the team for the day.

Recent Feedback I recently received from a customer. It's fantastic to receive feedback, both positive and critical. I take what I have learned from each event forward to the next. Every party host has different tastes in music, decoration and the overall atmosphere they want to create for their guests, be it formal or relaxed. My Job is to understand what they want to achieve and work within their brief to make sure all their guests enjoy the event.

Last Saturday I was asked to provide evening entertainment for Julia and Ryan, who are getting married in Canada but wanted to have a get together with friends and family who won’t be able to attend.

To prepare for the event I held a consultation to discuss music choices and lighting requirements to ensure that I could plan the atmosphere the hosts wanted to convey.

During our chat it was mentioned that they wanted some Ceilidh music but were worried a lot of the guests wouldn’t know the steps. We discussed which dances would be the most accessible for the guests to learn on the night and I offered to teach and call the steps for them. I find the Ceilidh part of the evening to be the most energetic and works best when everyone can get involved.

Massive thanks to Richie at the Park Hotel Thurso for treating me like one of his team for the evening to ensure that we could provide the best service for the guests.
