We can’t believe it’s that time of year again! Every year, around Sophie’s birthday – 26th November, we Make a Noise for Sophie. We usually focus on the nearest weekend to her birthday, so this year it is 21st – 24th November.

For Sophie’s first heavenly birthday, Sylvia had a gig, where our iconic black Sophie wristbands made their first appearance. Instead of having a minute’s silence, it was decided it was far more fitting for the gig audience to show their respect and love by ‘making a noise’. Now every year we reach out to the community and ask you, to join us, and Make a Noise for Sophie!
The values of our weekend are all about standing together and celebrating difference. Whatever genre you are, alternative people and allies, we want to respect where it all began and remember Sophie and shout loud and proud about our shared values of tolerance and respect.

We are asking you for the whole of the month of November to show your allegiance and stand up in support of our work and the safer, fairer, more inclusive world that we all strive for. Have a look at our Make a Noise factsheet and see if there’s something there that resonates with you.

Let’s make November a month where we make lots of noise! Let’s remember Sophie, celebrate difference and above all – love being who you are – and don’t go quietly!!

Phew!! What a day!

Thank you to everyone that came out to our Creepmas Alternative Market today and to all the amazing traders for bringing your incredible wares to the people of Heywood and beyond.

It's further solidified my belief that we are definitely on the right path and the more people we talk to, the more it's confirmed!!
