What a busy weekend we have had here at FloraLana flowers, its lovely that we're getting a little bit of overdue ☀️ over here!
We have been up to so much, from
♡ arranging the cutest 21st birthday bouquet💐
♡ Creating a white & cream 'garden gathered' style funeral sheaf for a very dear auntie🤍
♡cutting, conditioning & arranging bunches for the friday flower bunches, which you loved
♡ cutting, conditioning and arranging for saturdays Shrewsbury outdoor Market, in the square, which sold out!🌸

We have been over to the Walled Garden twice and the cutting garden here, snipping lots 😆 because we always insist on super fresh flowers.
I also got to meet Julia Buckley, who is the new Labour MP for Shrewsbury, and they took a pic of our stall, so hopefully looking forward to seeing that at some point. We also met Kathryn, a fellow florist who uses British only flowers who was visiting Shrewsbury for the day; always lovely to meet a like minded florist.

I wouldnt be doing all the things that i love so much, without all of your support, which you do in many different ways.
Thank you to all of you, it means the absolute world to me❤️🫶

Hope you all had a great weekend, whatever you were up to!

Are you getting married this year or next and need to organise your wedding flowers? I dont know about you but I wouldn't get married if I wasn't surrounded by gorgeous flowers on my wedding day!

I am a florist who grows my own 'garden gathered' style flowers in a lovely walled garden near Oswestry in Shropshire and in my cutting garden in Welshpool.
I work with most of my own flowers from April-Oct and outside these times I source locally to me or from within the UK.
Your flowers get picked a day or two before your wedding day, and you will get the freshest, most vibrant, and fragrant selection that I have growing; working to your colour palette and style. The ties for your bouquets are a beautiful silk or Broderie anglaise ribbon, or you can choose alternative ties if you prefer.
If you like the sound of all of this, then I would love to work with you in creating your perfect day.

Please do get in touch via my website https//:www.floralanaflowers.com. *please
Be aware that our website is being updated at present and your patience is appreciated.

or email
[email protected] and fill in your details. I will be in touch shortly after to arrange a free, initial consultation.

Happy weekend to you all

I was going to create a reel of the back of my garden in welshpool, at the top end, where my growing beds are, but I hadn't taken into account the issues I have with balance when moving around my garden due to the relatively steep incline. I just couldnt keep the camera still haha. It does make growing a bit more challenging for sure, although I do have a great view over long mountain to make up for it.

Below are a few of the flowers I am growing in my beds, which were started in 2021 as 'no dig', using pallet collars and wood from our local builders merchant. There are lots of videos about no dig on youtube, which are well worth a look.

Lots of varieties of roses, which you may have seen in my stories.
Scabious
Nigella mixed *the pods
Snapdragons
Daucus *
Ami visnaga & majus *
Sweet peas
Calendula
Sea thistle *
Strawflower *

My new, main cut flower growing area is in a walled garden near Oswestry in Shropshire, which is another lovely space. You can see more about that on my grid.

If you are thinking of starting a flower garden project or a cut flower business, then the flowers above are easy to grow. Those with a star beside them are perfect for drying also.

If you have any pics of your garden project or cut flower business that you would be willing to share, we would love to see them.

Also, do you have anything specific that you would like to know more about? Please put it in the comments or pm me and I will include it in my next posts.
Have a great week everyone, enjoy the sunshine!

As the weather is heating up, the flowers at the walled garden and my cutting garden are really starting to hit their stride, with a good few varieties starting to pop. The colour and fragrance is divine. I thought it might be a good time to re-introduce myself now.

Many of you have been following my recent posts and reels of how I am going about starting the new walled garden micro cut flower farm from scratch. Do give me a follow as its well worth it.

My name is Lana of 'floralana' and I re-trained as a florist a few years ago, gaining distinctions in both level 2 & 3 C&G. I am now in my 3rd year of growing cut flowers and have just moved my growing area from a small space on the outskirts of Welshpool, Mid Wales to a much larger walled garden in West felton, Oswestry, in Shropshire. I also have a cutting garden with raised beds, in Welshpool, where I live.

I grow with no chemicals and sustainably, which means creating with no floral foam and using materials that biodegrade quickly or that can be recycled for many future years. I use my own flowers in my growing season, which runs from april-end oct and out of season I source from other local growers or within the UK if necessary.

I am an ambassador for the powys region for https://www.instagram.com/sustainablechurchflowers?igsh=MWVsa2d6MmFtMmJxOA== providing talks and demonstrations to groups, couples or individuals who would like to learn more about creating with alternative, no floral foam, mechanics, for designs in churches and other venues.

I design and grow for weddings, events, farewell flowers, and run group and private workshops, where you can learn, for example, how to create a beautiful hand tied bouquet, or a luxury Christmas wreath.

I was very lucky this year to have been chosen to take part in a 1 year cut flower scholarship programme run by Flowers From The Farm at Organic Blooms and I am learning so much about horticulture and the cut flower industry.

If you would like fresh cut flowers for a special occassion then please do get in touch. You can also find out more about me and order through my website below.

I was back at the walled garden weeding and planting untill almost dark last night. I saw that my zinnias and a few of my other baby plants, including my Dahlias were getting slighly munched on, by slugs I think. Although I did see a rabbit in another part of the gardens which has now filled me with anxiety haha. So much talk atm of baby plants being nibbled at.
5 of the 7 trays of plants that I was putting in I bought home with me. I did get lots of weeding done though.
How's growing going for all the cut flower growers and Gardeners here?!

This week has been all about the celebration of British flowers being 'British flowers' week, which ends on Sunday, and I had so much to do and share at the walled garden in Oswestry with you. Then last Sunday, I had an incident with my car that involved a tree log, dont ask. It's a long story, haha, just car damage thankfully. Anyway I couldn't use my car and I have spent the week trying to find a new one, which has proven to be very time-consuming and stressful.
I did manage to get to the garden yesterday for the first time in over a week. Lots of planting up my baby plants, weeding, and watering was done, and the beds are almost full!
They are all coming on well. We just need some more sunshine 🌞.
I took a few pics for you of some of the pretty, delicate varieties in my cutting garden in welshpool, which are my favourites.
I hope all the British Flower growers, florists, and wholesalers are having a great week.
If you are looking for flowers, then do seek out your local flower grower by going to and to their website. It is fantastic and full of information.
If you are in the Oswestry and Welshpool areas and are looking for British Flowers then do get in touch. You can go to my website to find out more about me. https://www.floralanaflowers.com

What another busy week it has been.
Planting lots of baby plants and all my Dahlia tubers. succession sowing more seeds, planting roses, painting shelves, alot of fetching and carrying, admin, housechores, the list goes on.
We all are pushing through and facing our own challenges and sometimes it feels alot!
Then I remember how important flowers are in our lives and why I love them, its because

They encourage love empathy and kindness towards eachother.

Bring us closer to nature

Release feel good hormones

All over the world we hold flowers close to us and they are part of the most important times in our lives.

Develop our creativity

Allow us time to pause and just be present

And many more benefits.

I couldn't let mental health awareness week go by 'silent'. Of course it goes without saying that it is something that i am always thoughtful about and not just once a year. It has touched most of our lives in one way or another.
Have a good Thursday all,
Love Lana x

Before I talk flowers I just wanted to thank all my existing and new followers for your support, it really does mean the world to me, i wouldn't do this without you. Creating with and growing high quality, local, seasonal 'garden gathered' style cut flowers for you all to enjoy.
Anyway, after all the rain in the past weeks and moving my growing area I have been on a race against time to get my baby plants out of the greenhouse and into the ground. This week has been spent shovelling horse manure and compost to 15 new beds which I completed on wednesday (very hard work). I have had all the 'first succession' baby plants outside hardening off. I will do a post on succession planting in the near future because it allows you to have a constant supply of flowers throughout the growing season.
Here's some of the varieties that i am hugely excited about (just to many to list all of them) that went into the ground this week in the new walled garden near Oswestry.
https://www.floralanaflowers.com

In the walled garden
Sunflowers pro cut f1 white & cream 105 plants!
Sunflowers pro cut plum f1
Sunflowers pro cut white f1
Amaranthus opopeo
Strawflower, strawberry rose
Cerinthe
Larkspur Misty lavender
Love in a Mist (Nigella damascena)
Setaria grasses
Statice pink poker
Daucus carota
Cornflower mixed Colours
Scabious altro salmon queen
Scabious black knight
Cosmos purity
Poppy Colibri Dolce vita (so excited for these).
More love in a mist (nigella)

So excited for my sweet peas to, which are not far away from flowering, see pic

I have biannuals and perennials in my garden almost ready to burst atm, inc roses, sweet Williams and geums. The sunshine has slowed my ranunculus and anemones right down ☹️
If you are thinking of starting a cut flower garden or micro flower farm or already have one I would love to hear about it in the comments!

Also if you would like to follow my story, which takes you on my adventures and trials and tribulations of starting a micro flower farm from scratch then go to my facebook profile or my insta grid . There's lots of great varieties and info there to get you started!
You can probably tell I am passionate about nature led floristry and growing 🌷
