So I decided watch the most recent board meeting from Portland Modern Quilt Guild]] to see if my spider senses were off base. And halfway through the meeting, the fact that the meeting is housed in a non-affirming Catholic Church was brought up, which would be hella triggering and traumatizing for most q***r folks to enter the building considering they actively try to invalidate us. And the board responded with “the church is cheap, we have members of the church in the guild, the AV in the location is nice…” lots of that. And thankfully the lovey human kept asking questions, sharing that she knows lots of places that could meet the needs for inclusion. The board’s response was that the member should first join the diversity committee, almost trying to silence her. And then they suggested the member find a location. So the humanoid expressing harm, clearly also experiencing harm herself from the location, needs to expend emotional labor because the board is too comfortable protecting privilege. Well The Modern Quilt Guild] Portland Modern Quilt Guild]], that’s literally the OPPOSITE of inclusion and seriously it’s clear y’all aren’t committed to being truly inclusive. And this is the rampant ideology strewn through the whole guild. So, I’m not really interested in being tokenized in a guild where I’m clearly not wanted, despite them reaching out to me asking me to rejoin some months ago so they could include me on their roster. That’s really gross y’all. So my question for everyone is, if I was able to create a creative guild where it’s foundation was true inclusion and diversity, would you join me? Bertie has returned from his holidays and has the holiday blues. I think he misses his favourite people.

Introducing ReCreate – a Stylecraft first.
ReCreate is a wholly recycled DK yarn. It is 40% wool and 30% acrylic, both recovered from recycled garments, and 30% polyester made from plastic bottles that are shredded and then spun. The result is a lovely DK yarn that is great for textured knits and colourwork as we’ll show you over this week.
We’re really proud to add this yarn to our range as part of our commitment to finding options for knitters and crocheters that have less of an impact on the environment.
