There really are no words sometimes. The comments under the original posts really says it all. The idea for our own parade started here in Woods, with Donal smiling on, he probably thought we were mad but sure enough he supported us in our many fundraisers and the big day itself. Loved by all, a sad sad day, our thoughts are with all the Woods family. Our little parish will be very different for a long time to come.

It is with great sadness that this day has come. Donal passed away peacefully this morning. Funeral arrangements will be shared once confirmed .

We are saddened to learn about the passing of Johnny O Brien - he was always a great support to the committee over the years and he will be sadly missed by committee and the community in general. The first face we'd see the morning of a parade, waiting to open the hall and help us kick things off, and he always made sure we knew to "leave it how you found it" 💔 rest in peace Johnny.

Note: As a mark of respect the hall will be closed for activities Tuesday and Wednesday. Pre- school open as normal.

A very nice & talented up and coming artist from carrigtwohill Alex O'Driscoll will be entertaining us with live music today with all kinds of songs from the Wolfe tones to Johnny cash & everything in between- in the hall after the parade.

Housekeeping:

PARKING: No parking along route (between woods bar and GAA grounds) - we need to allow space for floats and vehicles to pass though.
No parking in the hall.
Parking at the pitch and church is available. Come early enough.

Parade begins at 1pm. There will be a temporary road diversion in place as normal from 12.30. If your child is taking part with a group. Please liase with group leader for times.

Our usual vendors will be in place- chipper, icecream van and coffee. They will be the only vehicles permitted in the hall carpark as this space is used for festivities. 🇮🇪

Hurley's SuperValu Midleton deserve a big thank you for their sponsorship this year. A big donation allows us to purchase what we need for our smaller members of the parish each year.

The local tidy town group have lifted the face of our village over the last few years. Thanks to a miserable and extremely wet winter....and autumn and summer. The village is in need of the big spring clean ahead of our parade. Let's get the place spruced up and back to its beauty ✨️

Who's getting excited?! We will have a DJ before and during the parade on the route playing some songs to keep us entertained. All groups/entrants send an email to our email address - [email protected] a little blub no more than 50 words to get your shout out as you pass by!!

CASH PRIZE!!! For the last few years we have always been so impressed at the efforts people go to by dressing up in all the finery.
So this year to add some incentive we are offering 20 euro cash prize for the "best dressed" or craziest!!! Whatever grabs our attention on the day.

We have welcomed some new members to our commitee and they came with fantastic ideas.
We have decided for this year to introduce a more sensory friendly parade.

Firstly:
We will have an area cordoned off at the beginning of the parade, where groups and entrants are asked not to make noise/music/ beeping horns etc.
We encourage waving and smiling during this quiet period.
Once a certain place in the road is reached each group can kick off with whatever they may have planned.
We really hope everyone will help us with this and be mindful that we are learning and trying to be as inclusive as possible.

Secondly:
Selene and Aisling have organised a sensory friendly room within the preschool to accommodate parents and children with sensory needs to decompress and have a little break from the madness, all the while not having to miss out. This is not a drop off area parents must stay with their children.

Some of our entertainment for this years parade. Plenty of the smallies and biggies to enjoy.
The Animal Roadshow Ireland returns. Funkykids will be entertaining the kids along the parade route and afterwards around the hall. Bouncy castles supplied by A&B Bounce . Magician Conor the Clown will be keeping us all entertained too!. So much on offer!

We will have a very talented singer on stage for those not willing to give the bouncy castle a go 🤣
Chipper, icecream van, coffees and refreshments as per usual all on offer!
