The Reverse: https://www.facebook.com/thereverseband
The Reverse are an enigmatic indie/folk four-piece band, with a sound ranging from acoustic guitars and harmonicas with heartfelt stories of optimism, to bluesy electric guitars and back-alley tales of betrayal. The Reverse have quickly become regarded as one of the most promising and prolific acts to emerge from the Irish music scene in recent years. Chinese Elevator Music:
Chinese Elevator Music are a musical group unlike any other in Cork, and perhaps Ireland. Taking some inspiration from the UCC Music Department's rich interest in Enthnomusicology, the group has fused together a disparate mix of both Western and Oriental influences to not only create their own music, but also their own instruments! Definitely something not to be missed. Petey's Crow:
Petey's Crow are a new up and coming Cork folk-oriented band. The charismatic group intersperse their music with impressive, attention-grabbing five-part harmonies. The band, who have been honing their collective talent in UCC for some time now, are an unmissable and enthralling act. Annie Sutton: www.facebook.com/AnnieSuttonMusic/
Annie Sutton is a unique voice in Cork. A remarkable talent with songs on youtube that have 50,000 views. Her influences range from Nina Simone to Lisa Hannigan and many more beyond. The Pearls: https://www.facebook.com/Melancailini
The Pearls are an exciting new group that features the combined talents of three young Irish singer-songwriters, Claire O’Brien, Melissa Power and Amy Blake, all students of Music at UCC. Claire is from Cork and is already making her name as a performer and songwriter. She received a Doc Gleeson award earlier this year for outstanding vocal performance. Melissa completed the BMus at UCC in 2012 and is currently studying for an MA in Ethnomusicology. Melissa’s singing and songwriting influences range from Irish traditional music to bluegrass. Amy is from Dublin and she completed the MA in Ethnomusicology at UCC in September this year. Amy has explored numerous vocal styles and is most influenced by folk singers such as Laura Marling and Joni Mitchell.
