Happy 6 Lahe Lahe
Lahe Lahe turns 6 today. We launched Lahe Lahe on 1st April 2016 with a 3-day launch festival (co-incidentally even that day was a Friday, so we had a mega weekend launch from Friday to Sunday!). That time, we just had an events space on the 4th floor. 2 years later, on the 2nd anniversary of Lahe Lahe, we launched Lahe Lahe Santhe on the ground floor which was an extended events space, a café, a pottery studio, a small merchandise section, a books section, a DIY corner, gratitude wall and a skill exchange board. Since Covid, the café and the merchandise section have paused- with the events and pottery studio in in full swing 😊
It really feels like a different time now though. Lot of things have changed during Covid- not only for us, but the world at large. The last two years may have been the most difficult times for everyone including Lahe Lahe. Nevertheless, we kept on going – shutting shop when there was a lockdown/ covid cases were high and opening up once things settled down. It was definitely frustrating but we strongly believe that the show must go on. During times like these, where a lot of us went through challenges of different kinds, struggled with our mental health – art is what kept some of us going. Whether it be music/ pottery/ theatre/ dance / open mics/ comedy- it was such a high to see smiling faces, hearts that connect, creations made/ shared and beyond.
Over the period of 6 years, lot of faces have come and gone, what we see now is a beautiful blend- some old familiar faces, some newer faces which are getting familiar because of their regularity and some totally new faces. Each of them though realising the need for art and the connection that comes within yourself and with others through art. Whether it be Music, dance, pottery, theatre, books, films, open mics, storytelling and beyond- all artistic activities kept us going.
We are thankful to each one of you – the people who were connected with us and lost touch for whatever reas
